Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a Slovak driving licence to work in Slovakia?

No. Any valid CE driving licence issued by an EU member state is fully recognised and accepted in Slovakia.

Is the Driver CPC card mandatory in Slovakia?

Yes. All professional truck drivers operating in Slovakia must hold a valid Driver CPC qualification card with the 95 code displayed on their licence.

What driving hours rules apply in Slovakia?

Slovakia fully enforces EU Regulation EC 561/2006. You may drive up to 9 hours per day, extendable to 10 hours no more than twice per week, with mandatory daily and weekly rest periods.

What is the minimum wage for truck drivers in Slovakia?

Slovakia's national minimum wage applies to all drivers working on Slovak territory. As of 2025, the gross minimum wage is €816 per month, though professional CE drivers typically earn significantly more than this.

Does Slovakia use a motorway toll system?

Yes. All vehicles over 3.5 tonnes operating on Slovak motorways and expressways are required to use the electronic toll system (myto). Your employer handles toll registration and payment for company vehicles.

What are the main transport routes through Slovakia?

Slovakia sits at the heart of Central Europe, connecting major freight corridors between Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Ukraine, and Poland. Key motorway routes include the D1 (Bratislava to Košice), D2 (connecting to Czech Republic and Hungary), and D4 ring road. It is one of the most strategically important transit countries in the EU.

What is cabotage and what are the rules in Slovakia?

Cabotage refers to domestic transport operations carried out by a foreign haulier within Slovakia. Under EU rules, a maximum of 3 cabotage operations are permitted within 7 days following an international delivery into Slovakia.

Will I need to speak Slovak?

Basic Slovak is helpful for daily interactions but is not a strict requirement. Many routes are international and our dispatcher team is multilingual.

What documents do I need to drive in Slovakia?

You will need your CE driving licence, Driver CPC card, digital tachograph card, valid EU passport or national ID, employment contract, and all relevant transport documents including CMR forms and waybills.

Is accommodation provided for drivers?

Many of our Slovakia routes include overnight allowances or accommodation support. Full details are confirmed before your first assignment.

How do I apply for this job?

Visit fastdriver.eu, find the Slovakia CE truck driver listing, and submit your CV directly. All applications are handled confidentially. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted within 5 business days.
