The Labour Office Vacancy Step — and the Shortage Shortcut

Before you can apply, the employer must report the vacancy to the local Labour Office (Úrad práce, sociálnych vecí a rodiny) at least ten working days in advance, and the Labour Office issues a “confirmation of the possibility of filling a vacancy” — Slovakia’s form of labour-market test. Step by Step and Your Licence

You secure a job offer, the employer reports the vacancy, and you apply for temporary residence for employment at a Slovak embassy or the Foreign Police, submitting documents translated into Slovak with an apostille or superlegalisation. An EU/EEA licence is recognised; a non-EU licence must be exchanged for a Slovak EU-standard licence after you take up residence, sometimes with a test.
