For Satu Mare Employers
Satu Mare is the only county in Nord-Vest that sits on both sides of the Schengen line. Its western crossings to Hungary stopped being border posts when Romania joined at its land borders, while Halmeu in the north is a full external border where lorry queues of about thirty hours are on record. That asymmetry decides how a dispatcher here plans a week. Registered unemployment is the second highest of the six and the only one falling materially, and most of the pool sits in villages rather than the city.
Your vacancy, your decision • Applications arrive with you • Permission guidance under a separate agreement
A border county of textiles, machine and automotive components, food processing, wood and furniture, with industrial development near both frontiers. Electronics is the largest single employer. Freight runs westbound on schedule and northbound on paperwork.
Say which vehicle and which direction. Categoria C+E for articulated work and categoria C for a rigid, with the atestat profesional for marfă named if it is needed on day one, and state whether the run is comunitate or Ukraine bound. Vacancies appear at www.fastdriver.eu/jobs/romania.
FastDriver.eu is a place to advertise, nothing more. It is not a recruitment agency and not an agent de muncă temporară, so no driver is ever its employee, none is hired out to you, and the contract you sign is yours alone.
The local point most employers miss: about four fifths of the registered unemployed in this county are rural and only around fifteen per cent of them draw any benefit, so the pool has no income replacement and no transport. A pick up point beats a bonus. The national rules are on the Romania employer page.
Employers in Satu Mare recruit șofer profesionist C+E for comunitate and tur-retur work, drivers for Ukraine bound loads through Halmeu, light commercial crews, rigid drivers for local manufacturing, and courier drivers for the city.
Western international work on categoria C+E with the atestat profesional for marfă and a card tahograf valabil. This is the bulk of the county's board, often advertised from villages rather than the city. Name the countries and give the diurnă separately from salary.
Third country running with customs and document handling attached, not ordinary EU work. Waits at the external border are measured in many hours rather than minutes, so say how the time is paid and how many turns a week are realistic before a candidate applies.
Solo drivers and two person crews on light commercial vehicles running pe comunitate. Advertised as șoferi singuri sau echipaje. State which it is, because the two are different jobs, and remember that international work in this weight band now needs a driver card.
Rigid work feeding the county's electronics, components, food and furniture plants, plus timber and agricultural movements. Advertised as șofer profesionist cat. C. Say the plant, the shift and whether the driver loads, since these roles rarely quote pay and candidates fill the gap with assumptions.
Delivery and courier rounds in Satu Mare city and the larger towns, on categoria B, including platform work paid weekly. Say whether the vehicle is yours or the driver's, what the round covers and when it starts, because that is what separates these adverts.
An advert here should say which frontier the work crosses. Writing that Romania is in Schengen and leaving it at that is wrong in this county, and a driver who finds out at Halmeu will not stay long.
The county runs from the Oaș mountains in the north, down through a hill belt, onto the Pannonian plain in the west, with the city of Satu Mare close to the Hungarian frontier and Halmeu on the Ukrainian one. Those three zones behave as separate labour markets.
Satu Mare city holds the manufacturing employment and most of the formal vacancies, but it has lost around a fifth of its population in two decades, so the city alone cannot supply a growing fleet.
Carei, west towards the plain, and Negrești-Oaș in the north each sit in their own catchment. A driver in the Oaș area will not commute daily to a city yard, so advertise those areas separately or offer transport.
Halmeu is a workplace in its own right rather than just a crossing. Drivers based near it understand external border routine, and that experience is worth naming in an advert for Ukraine bound work.
Village placements matter more here than in most counties. One international operator advertises against a village rather than the county seat, which is exactly where the registered pool actually lives.
Driver work differs sharply between the capital ring, the Black Sea port, the western gateway counties and the eastern border. Open another county to see the hiring information that applies there.
Romanian drivers search in Romanian. An advert written only in English will miss most of the domestic market.
Sofer profesionist is the dominant advert title. Sofer TIR signals international work and is read that way immediately. Sofer camion and sofer de distributie name the vehicle and the job. Conducator auto is the formal register that appears in documents and regulations rather than in adverts.
Intern or extern is the first thing a Romanian driver looks for, because it decides whether they are home each night or away for weeks. Put it in the headline. An advert that leaves it out collects applications from people who withdraw once they find out.
Pe comunitate is the phrase that signals the well paid international segment. It is worth using where it is true, and worth avoiding where it is not, because drivers treat it as a promise about earnings.
Write the licence as C+E. That form appears far more often in real adverts than CE, by a wide margin, and writing it the other way marks an advert as drafted by someone outside the trade.
The qualification is the atestat profesional, for marfa or for persoane. Adverts list it alongside the card tahograf and ADR where the load requires it. Name only what the role genuinely needs.
Pay needs two numbers, not one. Salary and diurna are quoted separately in Romanian adverts, and for international work the daily allowance is a very large part of what a driver actually takes home. An advert that gives only the salary reads as badly paid even when it is not.
Romanian drivers read an advert for the route, the vehicle, the time away and the two pay figures. An advert that answers those four things gets better applications than one that lists benefits.
Extern dominates the advert board here and intern roles usually appear without a pay figure at all, so the vocabulary a candidate reads for is comunitate, extern and tur-retur. This county needs one extra label the rest of the region does not: whether the work is comunitate running west or third country running north through Halmeu. Those are different jobs with different week patterns, and the word comunitate does not cover the second one.
FastDriver.eu operates as a European driver job portal and allows candidates elsewhere in Europe and in eligible international markets to find and apply for suitable Romanian vacancies.
Start by ignoring most of what is published about this, because the system changed. The separate work permit that employers used to apply for has been abolished and replaced by a single application filed on a state platform. The old route was switched off months before the new platform opened, so guidance written before the change is not just dated, it describes a procedure that no longer exists.
Drivers sit on the shortage occupations list, which is the gate for the main employment route. For a haulier that is genuinely good news and it is the part of the system working in your favour.
The real barrier is not the paperwork. Filing directly requires a trading history, an average headcount above a published threshold and a financial guarantee for each worker. Most Romanian hauliers sit below that headcount, which means they cannot file at all and must go through a licensed placement agency instead. Check which side of that line your company falls on before you plan anything else, because it changes the whole approach.
The annual quota is a single national figure rather than a transport allocation, and it was cut rather than raised. A large share of it is consumed well before the year ends, so an application late in the cycle competes for what is left.
Employers in Satu Mare may receive applications from drivers based in Romania, elsewhere in the EU and EEA, Switzerland, the wider European region, Asia, Africa, Gulf countries, North America, Latin America and other eligible international markets.
EU, EEA and Swiss citizens may work in Romania without an authorisation. A Moldovan national holding Romanian citizenship is an EU citizen and needs nothing, while one without it faces full external border checks, because the Romanian border with Moldova is now a Schengen external frontier. The difference is large and it is worth establishing early in a conversation rather than late.
The employment contract has to reach the national register before the driver starts work, not afterwards. The register changed name and platform recently, and the penalties for undeclared work are severe with a high ceiling, so this is not a formality to leave until the first week.
A candidate's ability to work here depends on nationality, residence status, professional qualifications, driving licence validity and the requirements of the individual position. Nationality alone never settles it. Drivers can check their own position through our driving licence eligibility guidance.
FastDriver.eu can provide process guidance and document coordination when a candidate needs support. It does not make government decisions and cannot promise an approval.
Name the licence category in the advert. A Romanian driver reads it first, and C+E in the headline tells them immediately whether the job is theirs.
Freight work uses C and C+E, with C1 and C1E for lighter rigid vehicles. Passenger transport uses D and D1.
Age limits matter when you are planning a pipeline. C1 and C1E open at eighteen, C and C+E at twenty one and reduce to eighteen for a driver holding the professional qualification. D and DE open at twenty four and reduce to twenty one on the same basis. Heavy categories run five years.
Romania asks for something most member states do not. A professional driver needs an annual medical check and an annual psychological check, and the psychological opinion is also part of the file for exchanging a foreign licence. Employers arriving from elsewhere in the EU are regularly caught out by it.
The atestat profesional is issued by the national road authority, separately for goods and for passengers, and renewed every five years. A shorter conversion route exists for a driver moving between the two, so an experienced goods driver is not starting again to work on passenger transport.
Foreign licences need checking before you make an offer. EU and EEA licences exchange without a test. Beyond that it depends on whether the issuing country appears on the convention or reciprocity lists, and where it does not the driver sits the Romanian theory and practical examination, which they may now do without compulsory driving school.
Several of the countries Romanian hauliers recruit from most heavily could not be found on those exchange lists. That is not a conclusion that they are absent, but it does mean the question has to be settled for the specific country before a contract is signed, not assumed.
A professional qualification obtained outside the EU or EEA is not recognised here. An experienced driver arriving from outside Europe takes the Romanian qualification whatever they held before.
This is where the real timeline lives, and it is longer than most employers expect. The driver attestation that a Romanian operator needs in order to put a third country national on international work requires a Romanian licence and the professional qualification. A newly arrived driver has neither. The tachograph card also requires the work authorisation first. So the sequence is admission, then licence, then qualification, then attestation, and an employer who budgets only for the visa will be short by months.
One thing works in your favour. The professional examinations have been made available in English, which was done specifically to serve drivers recruited from South and South East Asia, so the qualification stage no longer requires Romanian first.
Unlike several other member states, the forklift authorisation in Romania is a genuine state authorisation issued to the individual rather than a permission the employer grants. ADR is required where the load needs it. Verifying the original documents remains the employer's responsibility.
This county carries both halves of Romania's Schengen position at the same time, and the difference is worth building into a schedule. Westwards, Petea and Urziceni on the road and Carei on the railway stopped being crossing points when Romania joined Schengen at its land borders, so a Hungary bound run has no scheduled frontier stop and only random risk based checks. Northwards, Halmeu is a Schengen external border with full third country controls, and queues of roughly thirty hours to leave Romania for Ukraine are on record when freight is displaced from the Polish route, with reinforced staffing and every inspection lane in use. Budget days rather than hours for a Ukraine load, and keep the two directions in separate planning assumptions.

Employers in Satu Mare can use FastDriver.eu to find drivers, advertise genuine vacancies and receive applications through a specialised European driver job portal.
The employer starts by submitting company details, work location, driver category, required licence, number of vacancies, experience level, working schedule, pay information and proposed start date.
The vacancy can then be prepared and promoted to relevant drivers through the platform, alongside the current driver vacancies already open.
Candidates apply for suitable positions. The employer reviews their information, conducts interviews and makes the final hiring decision.
FastDriver.eu does not become the employer. It does not replace the company's legal responsibility for candidate verification, employment contracts, remuneration or working conditions.
Employers that can consider international drivers should clearly state whether work authorisation guidance, visa process support, accommodation or relocation assistance is available.
This information must reflect the employer's actual offer. It must not be added only for search visibility.
Tell us how many drivers you need, the base or town they work from, the licence category, experience, routes, language requirements and proposed employment conditions.
Our team reviews your company details and checks that the vacancy contains what a Romanian driver needs in order to apply with confidence, including the category, whether the work is intern or extern, the atestat position, and salary and diurna stated separately.
The vacancy is prepared, published and promoted according to the selected employer option.
Drivers apply through the platform. The employer reviews applications, communicates with suitable candidates and arranges interviews.
The employer makes the final hiring decision, verifies the candidate and signs the employment contract directly with the selected driver.
When separately agreed, FastDriver.eu may provide immigration process guidance, document coordination and relocation preparation for eligible international candidates.
Complete and accurate information helps drivers understand the opportunity and allows the platform team to publish the vacancy correctly.
Do not request unrelated information.
FastDriver.eu provides the digital platform and any separately agreed support services.
The employer is responsible for confirming the vacancy, independently verifying each selected candidate, checking licence categories and the atestat position, and meeting all Romanian employment obligations.
FastDriver.eu does not issue government approvals.
FastDriver.eu cannot guarantee applications, candidate availability, candidate suitability, interview attendance, hiring, work authorisation approval, visa approval, licence recognition, processing time or continued employment.
All vacancies must be genuine, current, lawful and accurate.
Employers must not request unlawful recruitment or application payments from candidates.
It publishes the driver vacancy you post and routes replies to you through a board used only for driver work. You decide the pay, the contract and the shortlist, and you make the offer. The portal does not employ drivers, does not place them and never becomes a party to the relationship between you and the person you hire.
It is neither. Placement is a licensed activity in Romania, andd the distinction matters a great deal for an employerconsidering third-country hiringg. FastDriver.eu advertises vacancies, holds no placement licence, supplies no labour under hire and signs nothing on your behalf. The driver becomes your direct employee under your own contract.
Only on one side of the county. The Hungarian frontier here became internal when Romania joined at its land borders, and the crossing points were abolished. The Ukrainian frontier at Halmeu is a Schengen external border with comprehensive controls, because Ukraine is outside the EU. Writing off border waits in this country would be plainly wrong.
Think in days rather than hours. Waits of about thirty hours to leave Romania for Ukraine at Halmeu are on record, with hundreds of lorries queued, every inspection lane open and staff reinforced, after freight was pushed onto the Romanian route from Poland. Plan the rota around that, and say in the advert how waiting time is paid.
Because it is the regional lorry gate for Ukraine; when the crossing in Maramureș is restricted, Halmeu is named as the road alternative, so freight from a neighbouring county arrives here. It also absorbs traffic displaced when the Polish border is disrupted. A driver based near Halmeu therefore accumulates external border experience that is scarce elsewhere.
In the villages. Around four fifths of the county’s registered unemployed are rural, and only about fifteen per cent of them receive any benefit, so most of the pool has no income replacement at all. An employer advertising only in the city is fishing in the county's tightest labour market while the slack sits twenty to sixty kilometres out.
Both at once, which is unusual. Satu Mare is the only one of the six Nord-Vest counties whose registered unemployment fell materially year on year, yet it remains the second highest of the six. At the same time, the county has lost well over a sixth of its population across three decades. The pool is shrinking and loosening at the same time.
They do not, locally. No motorway section runs in Satu Mare, and none is under construction here. They reach the A3 viaSălaj and Cluj, across the stretch that is still unbuilt, so a run south or east begins sonon a ingle carriageway. Journey times should be quoted on that basis rather than on map distance.
Categoria C+E for articulated combinations, written with the plus sign because that is the dominant form in Romanian adverts, and categoria C for rigids. Categoria D covers passenger work. C and C+E are available from eighteen, where the driver holds the certificate of professional competence, so screening at twenty-one excludes a cohort that training providers are already producing.
A permis de conducere with the heavy categories in date, since they run for five years. The atestat profesional from the road authority, for marfă or persoane. A valid tachograph card, which Romanian adverts specify as valid for good reason. An ADR certificate where it applies. And the current aviz medical and aviz psihologic.
Because both are required under EU law in Romania for safety-critical transport roles, and for professional drivers both are renewed every year. The psychological assessment is also required in the file to exchange a foreign licence. Candidates arriving from systems without that requirement will not have budgeted for either, and neither can be issued after the fact.
Quote it separately from the basic salary, as an amount per calendar day. For a Romanian international driver, the allowance is a large part of what actually arrives, and an advert showing only a monthly salary reads as domestic pay. The domestic and international allowances are treated differently, so make clear which one the job carries.
A single application on the state platform replaced the abolished employment notice and can be filed either by an authorised employer or an authorised placement agency. The occupation must be on the shortage list, and both goods and passenger driving appear on it. Published guidance that still describes the old notice is out of date.
Only above the thresholds. Filing in your own name requires continuous trading for a set period, an average headcount above a published level, and a financial guarantee for every worker you bring in. A firm below that headcount, which covers most hauliers in this county, goes through an authorised placement agency instead.
It depends entirely on the issuing state. Licences from the EU, the EEA and Switzerland are exchanged without any test. Beyond that, exchange without an exam depends on whether the country appears on the relevant annexes, and several of the countries Romanian hauliers recruit from most heavily were not listed. Check the specific country before making an offer.
That anyone applies, that a suitable driver is available, that a candidate turns up, that you hire, that a visa or permit is granted, that a foreign licence is recognised, how long an authority takes, or how long a driver remains with you. Those outcomes belong to the market and to public bodies. The portal publishes and delivers applications.
Say which frontier the work crosses, what the trailer is, where the driver starts from and how waiting time at Halmeu is paid. Advertise it on FastDriver.eu and handle the applications yourself.
