For Sălaj Employers
Sălaj is the smallest and least densely populated of the six Nord-Vest counties, and it is where Romania's most important unfinished motorway sits. It carries the highest registered unemployment of the six and is the only one of them clearly rising, so there is genuine slack here, but very little local driver employer base to absorb it. Freight out of this county is heavy and dense rather than bulky, which makes it unlike every neighbour it has.
Your advert, plainly written • Replies come to you • Permission guidance under a separate agreement
An interior county built on extraction and primary processing: lignite, gypsum, slate, stone and aggregates, forestry, grain and fruit, with one large steel pipe employer at its centre. No industrial park and no airport can be confirmed here.
Say the combination and the qualification. Categoria C+E for articulated work, categoria C for a rigid, and state whether the atestat profesional for marfă is needed on the first day. Oversize and awkward loads should be flagged in the title. Vacancies appear at www.fastdriver.eu/jobs/romania.
FastDriver.eu advertises and nothing more. It is not a recruitment agency and not an agent de muncă temporară, so it never employs a driver, never supplies one under hire and never appears in the contract you sign with the person you choose.
The fact that shapes recruitment here: about five in six of the county's registered unemployed live in rural communes, across more than two hundred and eighty villages, and only around a sixth of them draw any benefit. Transport to the yard beats a bonus. The national process is described on the Romania employer page.
Employers in Sălaj recruit șofer profesionist C+E for comunitate work, tractor unit drivers for domestic running, drivers for steel, aggregate and timber loads, light commercial drivers on international work, and taxi and local drivers in Zalău.
International work on categoria C+E with the atestat profesional for marfă and a card tahograf valabil, which takes most of the county's advert board. Name the countries and the rotation, and set the diurnă out separately from salary rather than quoting one figure.
Domestic tractor unit work, which is rare enough here to be worth advertising hard. The best paying domestic offer visible in this county is placed by an employer from a neighbouring county. Say where the unit is based, what it pulls and how often the driver is home.
Dense, heavy and often awkward to load, sometimes long, which is the opposite of the furniture and electronics freight next door. Securing and loading knowledge matters more than mileage here, so ask about it and say in the advert what the load actually is.
Tipper, timber and seasonal agricultural movements from quarries, forests and farms across the county. Advertised on categoria C or C+E. State whether the work is seasonal, which site the driver reports to and whether the vehicle stays in the field overnight.
Light commercial work, local delivery and taxi driving around Zalău and the towns, on categoria B. Some of it is placed by foreign operators for work abroad. If yours is local, say so clearly, with the round, the hours and whether the vehicle is provided.
Most of this county's board is extern, so a domestic vacancy needs to say intern or transport național and then explain what it offers instead: nights at home, a fixed route, predictable hours. Otherwise it is read as a weaker version of a euro advert.
Sălaj lies between Bihor, Satu Mare, Maramureș, Cluj and Bistrița-Năsăud with no international frontier of its own, Zalău at the centre, and the A3 passing north of the county seat at Poarta Sălajului and south of it at Nușfalău without yet joining the two.
Zalău holds the county's industry and most of its formal vacancies, but it is a small seat by regional standards and the surrounding villages hold the larger share of the available workforce.
Șimleu Silvaniei, Jibou and Cehu Silvaniei each draw from their own area. Driver adverts appear against all three, and against villages such as Ip and Dersida, which shows where recruiters expect candidates to live.
The Barcău valley in the west matters operationally, because the signed motorway diversion runs along it. Drivers living there know the road and the single lane restriction on it better than any schedule does.
Driver work differs sharply between the capital ring, the Black Sea port, the western gateway counties and the eastern border. Open another county to see the hiring information that applies there.
Romanian drivers search in Romanian. An advert written only in English will miss most of the domestic market.
Sofer profesionist is the dominant advert title. Sofer TIR signals international work and is read that way immediately. Sofer camion and sofer de distributie name the vehicle and the job. Conducator auto is the formal register that appears in documents and regulations rather than in adverts.
Intern or extern is the first thing a Romanian driver looks for, because it decides whether they are home each night or away for weeks. Put it in the headline. An advert that leaves it out collects applications from people who withdraw once they find out.
Pe comunitate is the phrase that signals the well paid international segment. It is worth using where it is true, and worth avoiding where it is not, because drivers treat it as a promise about earnings.
Write the licence as C+E. That form appears far more often in real adverts than CE, by a wide margin, and writing it the other way marks an advert as drafted by someone outside the trade.
The qualification is the atestat profesional, for marfa or for persoane. Adverts list it alongside the card tahograf and ADR where the load requires it. Name only what the role genuinely needs.
Pay needs two numbers, not one. Salary and diurna are quoted separately in Romanian adverts, and for international work the daily allowance is a very large part of what a driver actually takes home. An advert that gives only the salary reads as badly paid even when it is not.
Romanian drivers read an advert for the route, the vehicle, the time away and the two pay figures. An advert that answers those four things gets better applications than one that lists benefits.
Almost the whole of this county's advert board is extern or comunitate work, and the few domestic roles mostly do not quote pay at all. So comunitate, extern and tur-retur are the words a candidate scans for, and anything unlabelled is assumed to mean international. If your vacancy is domestic, intern or transport național has to be in the title, because here that is the exception rather than the default.
FastDriver.eu operates as a European driver job portal and allows candidates elsewhere in Europe and in eligible international markets to find and apply for suitable Romanian vacancies.
Start by ignoring most of what is published about this, because the system changed. The separate work permit that employers used to apply for has been abolished and replaced by a single application filed on a state platform. The old route was switched off months before the new platform opened, so guidance written before the change is not just dated, it describes a procedure that no longer exists.
Drivers sit on the shortage occupations list, which is the gate for the main employment route. For a haulier that is genuinely good news and it is the part of the system working in your favour.
The real barrier is not the paperwork. Filing directly requires a trading history, an average headcount above a published threshold and a financial guarantee for each worker. Most Romanian hauliers sit below that headcount, which means they cannot file at all and must go through a licensed placement agency instead. Check which side of that line your company falls on before you plan anything else, because it changes the whole approach.
The annual quota is a single national figure rather than a transport allocation, and it was cut rather than raised. A large share of it is consumed well before the year ends, so an application late in the cycle competes for what is left.
Employers in Sălaj may receive applications from drivers based in Romania, elsewhere in the EU and EEA, Switzerland, the wider European region, Asia, Africa, Gulf countries, North America, Latin America and other eligible international markets.
EU, EEA and Swiss citizens may work in Romania without an authorisation. A Moldovan national holding Romanian citizenship is an EU citizen and needs nothing, while one without it faces full external border checks, because the Romanian border with Moldova is now a Schengen external frontier. The difference is large and it is worth establishing early in a conversation rather than late.
The employment contract has to reach the national register before the driver starts work, not afterwards. The register changed name and platform recently, and the penalties for undeclared work are severe with a high ceiling, so this is not a formality to leave until the first week.
A candidate's ability to work here depends on nationality, residence status, professional qualifications, driving licence validity and the requirements of the individual position. Nationality alone never settles it. Drivers can check their own position through our driving licence eligibility guidance.
FastDriver.eu can provide process guidance and document coordination when a candidate needs support. It does not make government decisions and cannot promise an approval.
Name the licence category in the advert. A Romanian driver reads it first, and C+E in the headline tells them immediately whether the job is theirs.
Freight work uses C and C+E, with C1 and C1E for lighter rigid vehicles. Passenger transport uses D and D1.
Age limits matter when you are planning a pipeline. C1 and C1E open at eighteen, C and C+E at twenty one and reduce to eighteen for a driver holding the professional qualification. D and DE open at twenty four and reduce to twenty one on the same basis. Heavy categories run five years.
Romania asks for something most member states do not. A professional driver needs an annual medical check and an annual psychological check, and the psychological opinion is also part of the file for exchanging a foreign licence. Employers arriving from elsewhere in the EU are regularly caught out by it.
The atestat profesional is issued by the national road authority, separately for goods and for passengers, and renewed every five years. A shorter conversion route exists for a driver moving between the two, so an experienced goods driver is not starting again to work on passenger transport.
Foreign licences need checking before you make an offer. EU and EEA licences exchange without a test. Beyond that it depends on whether the issuing country appears on the convention or reciprocity lists, and where it does not the driver sits the Romanian theory and practical examination, which they may now do without compulsory driving school.
Several of the countries Romanian hauliers recruit from most heavily could not be found on those exchange lists. That is not a conclusion that they are absent, but it does mean the question has to be settled for the specific country before a contract is signed, not assumed.
A professional qualification obtained outside the EU or EEA is not recognised here. An experienced driver arriving from outside Europe takes the Romanian qualification whatever they held before.
This is where the real timeline lives, and it is longer than most employers expect. The driver attestation that a Romanian operator needs in order to put a third country national on international work requires a Romanian licence and the professional qualification. A newly arrived driver has neither. The tachograph card also requires the work authorisation first. So the sequence is admission, then licence, then qualification, then attestation, and an employer who budgets only for the visa will be short by months.
One thing works in your favour. The professional examinations have been made available in English, which was done specifically to serve drivers recruited from South and South East Asia, so the qualification stage no longer requires Romanian first.
Unlike several other member states, the forklift authorisation in Romania is a genuine state authorisation issued to the individual rather than a permission the employer grants. ADR is required where the load needs it. Verifying the original documents remains the employer's responsibility.
The A3 is currently closed in both directions between the Nușfalău junction and Suplacu de Barcău while a new subsection is tied in, and the signed diversion runs on DN 19B through Marghita, Satu Barba, Suplacu de Barcău, Ip and Nușfalău, including a single lane restriction of about five hundred metres with roughly three metres per direction. That diversion carries every Oradea to Cluj lorry movement through this county. Behind the closure sits a larger gap: the sections from Poarta Sălajului to Zalău and from Zalău to Nușfalău are not built, contractors are assigned but the stretch includes a tunnel of nearly three kilometres that will be Romania's longest road tunnel, and completion is still years away. Zalău is the one county seat in this region that the motorway is planned to serve but will not reach for years. Quote journey times accordingly.

Employers in Sălaj can use FastDriver.eu to find drivers, advertise genuine vacancies and receive applications through a specialised European driver job portal.
The employer starts by submitting company details, work location, driver category, required licence, number of vacancies, experience level, working schedule, pay information and proposed start date.
The vacancy can then be prepared and promoted to relevant drivers through the platform, alongside the current driver vacancies already open.
Candidates apply for suitable positions. The employer reviews their information, conducts interviews and makes the final hiring decision.
FastDriver.eu does not become the employer. It does not replace the company's legal responsibility for candidate verification, employment contracts, remuneration or working conditions.
Employers that can consider international drivers should clearly state whether work authorisation guidance, visa process support, accommodation or relocation assistance is available.
This information must reflect the employer's actual offer. It must not be added only for search visibility.
Tell us how many drivers you need, the base or town they work from, the licence category, experience, routes, language requirements and proposed employment conditions.
Our team reviews your company details and checks that the vacancy contains what a Romanian driver needs in order to apply with confidence, including the category, whether the work is intern or extern, the atestat position, and salary and diurna stated separately.
The vacancy is prepared, published and promoted according to the selected employer option.
Drivers apply through the platform. The employer reviews applications, communicates with suitable candidates and arranges interviews.
The employer makes the final hiring decision, verifies the candidate and signs the employment contract directly with the selected driver.
When separately agreed, FastDriver.eu may provide immigration process guidance, document coordination and relocation preparation for eligible international candidates.
Complete and accurate information helps drivers understand the opportunity and allows the platform team to publish the vacancy correctly.
Do not request unrelated information.
FastDriver.eu provides the digital platform and any separately agreed support services.
The employer is responsible for confirming the vacancy, independently verifying each selected candidate, checking licence categories and the atestat position, and meeting all Romanian employment obligations.
FastDriver.eu does not issue government approvals.
FastDriver.eu cannot guarantee applications, candidate availability, candidate suitability, interview attendance, hiring, work authorisation approval, visa approval, licence recognition, processing time or continued employment.
All vacancies must be genuine, current, lawful and accurate.
Employers must not request unlawful recruitment or application payments from candidates.
You post a genuine vacancy; it goes on a board used only for driver work, and applications come to you. You decide the pay, the contract and the shortlist, and you make the offer yourself. Nothing is filtered in advance, and the portal never becomes the employer of any driver who answers.
Those are different things. Licensed placement agencies are regulated in Romania, particularly for third-country hiring, and a job board is not one of them. FastDriver.eu carries adverts, holds no placement licence, employs no drivers and hires none out. The driver you choose becomes your employee on your own contract.
Because the two sections that would link it are unbuilt: the A3 passes north of the county seat at Poarta Sălajului and south of it at Nușfalău, and the stretch between them, roughly forty kilometres, includes a nearly three-kilometre tunnel that will be the longest road tunnel in Romania. Contractors are assigned, but completion is years away.
A longer and slower Oradea to Cluj leg. The motorway is closed in both directions between the Nușfalău junction and Suplacu de Barcău for tie-in works, and the signed diversion runs on DN 19B through Marghita, Satu Barba, Suplacu de Barcău, Ip, and Nușfalău, with a single-lane restriction of about five hundred metres along the way.
Easier on paper than in practice. The slack is real; the rate is the highest of the six and the only one clearly rising, but the county also has the smallest driver advert board in the region and a very small local employer base to absorb that slack. Most of the registered pool is factory, agricultural and service labour rather than qualified drivers.
Outside Zalău. About five in six registered unemployed live in rural communes, in a county of more than two hundred and eighty villages with well under sixty people per square kilometre, and only around a sixth of them draw any benefit. Recruitment here is a transport problem before it is a wage problem, so name a pick-up point.
Heavy rather than bulky, which is unusual in this region. The county’s largest employer makes steel pipe, and the wider economy runs on lignite, gypsum, slate, stone and aggregates, timber and agricultural produce. That means dense loads, awkward securing, and sometimes long items, rather than the volume freight of the nearby furniture and electronics counties.
Employers from other counties and from abroad. The best-paying domestic offer visible on this county’s board is posted by an operator based in a neighbouring county, recruiting into Zalău, and German courier operators advertise here too. A Sălaj employer competes with Bihor and Germany rather than other local firms.
None of the three, and the honest answer is more useful than a padded one. Sălaj has no international frontier, no airport and no industrial park that can be confirmed. The nearest airport with real cargo activity is Cluj-Napoca, and the motorway network is reached through Cluj or via unfinished sections in this county.
Categoria C+E for articulated combinations, written with the plus sign as Romanian adverts do, and categoria C for rigids. Categoria D covers passenger work. A driver with a certificate of professional competence can hold C and C+E from eighteen, and D from twenty-one, on the same footing, so the age screens unnecessarily exclude candidates.
The permis de conducere, with the heavy categories checked for expiry because they run five years. The road authority’s atestat profesional, for marfă or for persoane. A card tahograf valabil. An ADR certificate where the load needs it. And both fitness documents: the aviz medical and the aviz psihologic, renewed every year for professional drivers.
Because the law lists it alongside the medical examination as a condition of safety-critical transport work, and both are renewed yearly for professional drivers. Exchanging a foreign licence also requires a psychological evaluation to be included in the file. Neither document can be produced after the event, so allow for both when planning a start date.
With the basic salary and the diurnă shown separately, the allowance per calendar day for international work. The daily allowance is a large part of what a Romanian international driver receives, so an advert that lists only a monthly salary looks underpaid, even when it is not. Say which allowance applies, domestic or international.
One application on the state platform, which replaced the abolished employment notice, filed by an authorised employer or an authorised placement agency. The occupation must be on the shortage list, and lorry and coach driving are both on it. Material describing the old notice, which still circulates widely, is out of date.
Usually not. Filing directly requires continuous trading, an average headcount above a published threshold,ld and a financial guarantee for each worker. In a county this size,, most operators are well below that headcount, sos an authorised placement agencyiss the realistic route, with its own costs andtimeliness to plan for.
Say what the load is, where the yard sits, whether the work is intern or pe comunitate, and which villages you can collect from. Put that on FastDriver.eu and deal with the applicants yourself.
Employers in Sălaj recruit, select and employ their drivers directly.
