For Covasna Employers
Covasna is the smallest of the six Centru counties by area and by population, and it carries the highest registered unemployment of all of them by a wide margin, which makes it the one place in this region where driver labour is genuinely available. Food accounts for about a third of county industry, garments and textiles for roughly a fifth and wood for something near a seventh. Employers here publish a real vacancy, state the category and the atestat, and hire on their own contract.
A real vacancy, plainly written • Applications direct, unfiltered • Permission to work guided under separate agreement
Covasna is a food, textiles and timber county with a small, fragmented haulage sector and the highest registered unemployment of these six counties. Labour availability, not employer density, is what it offers a recruiting business.
Advertise at www.fastdriver.eu/jobs/romania, setting out categoria C+E, categoria C or categoria B, whether the atestat profesional and a valid card tahograf are needed from the start, and whether the round is intern or extern. Multi drop and temperature controlled detail belongs in the body, not left implied.
To be precise about what this portal is: a place to publish a vacancy. It does not recruit on your behalf, does not operate as an agent de munca temporara, holds no drivers under contract and charges nothing on a hire. Interviewing, selecting and employing remain your company's work from start to finish.
A Covasna specific: two of the three large national parcel networks are recruiting in Sfântu Gheorghe, which is the clearest genuine local demand signal in the county. Wider employer material sits on the Romania employer page.
The roles advertised in Covasna are temperature controlled food distribution, parcel and courier rounds in the seat, categoria C+E domestic work in the smaller towns, pe comunitate lorry work, and timber and panel loads out of the wood processing sites.
Dairy and meat processing are the county's industrial core, with Covalact and Orkla both based here, so chilled distribution on tight daily cycles is the characteristic local job. Categoria C or categoria B, intern, home nightly. Multi drop and cold chain discipline matter more than long distance hours.
Parcel work is the clearest live demand here, with Cargus and DPD both advertising in Sfântu Gheorghe. Categoria B, domestic rounds, driver home every evening. One such posting was placed for work abroad, so state whether the round is local or outside the country.
Domestic categoria C+E roles appear in the smaller settlements as well as the seat, including at Sita Buzăului and in Covasna town itself. This is general freight with the driver living locally. In a thin market these adverts fill on terms and on honest hours, not on applicant volume.
International lorry work is advertised from Târgu Secuiesc as well as the seat, partly by operators based well outside the county. Categoria C+E, extended spells away, and the diurnă quoted separately from basic salary. Say where the routes run, because candidates here will ask before applying.
Wood processing is the third pillar of county industry, with Schweighoffer Holzindustrie among the named operations. Sawn timber and wood products are heavy work needing timber trailers or flatbeds on categoria C+E, and load securing is the competence an employer should actually test at interview.
In a county with this few live adverts, vagueness is costly. Name the town, the vehicle, the daily pattern and the licence category, because a candidate here is comparing your advert against very little else and will read it closely.
Covasna is landlocked between branches of the Carpathians and is the most compact county in this region, so nothing within it is far in map terms. Population density is low, however, and the settlements that generate driver work are few and named.
Sfântu Gheorghe is the seat and carries most of the county's driver adverts. Târgu Secuiesc follows, with single postings appearing at Covasna town and at Sita Buzăului in the south east of the county.
There is no motorway in the county and none under construction in it. The regional motorway network is concentrated on the Alba and Sibiu axis to the west, so every Covasna load begins and ends on ordinary roads.
Collection and delivery rounds therefore cover distance between relatively few settlements across high ground. Journey time assumptions borrowed from a denser county will not hold here, and winter weather tightens them further.
There is no airport in the county, the nearest being in Brașov, and no cargo operation is documented there. Air freight is not a factor in driver work in Covasna and no part of the local job depends on it.
Driver work differs sharply between the capital ring, the Black Sea port, the western gateway counties and the eastern border. Open another county to see the hiring information that applies there.
Romanian drivers search in Romanian. An advert written only in English will miss most of the domestic market.
Sofer profesionist is the dominant advert title. Sofer TIR signals international work and is read that way immediately. Sofer camion and sofer de distributie name the vehicle and the job. Conducator auto is the formal register that appears in documents and regulations rather than in adverts.
Intern or extern is the first thing a Romanian driver looks for, because it decides whether they are home each night or away for weeks. Put it in the headline. An advert that leaves it out collects applications from people who withdraw once they find out.
Pe comunitate is the phrase that signals the well paid international segment. It is worth using where it is true, and worth avoiding where it is not, because drivers treat it as a promise about earnings.
Write the licence as C+E. That form appears far more often in real adverts than CE, by a wide margin, and writing it the other way marks an advert as drafted by someone outside the trade.
The qualification is the atestat profesional, for marfa or for persoane. Adverts list it alongside the card tahograf and ADR where the load requires it. Name only what the role genuinely needs.
Pay needs two numbers, not one. Salary and diurna are quoted separately in Romanian adverts, and for international work the daily allowance is a very large part of what a driver actually takes home. An advert that gives only the salary reads as badly paid even when it is not.
Romanian drivers read an advert for the route, the vehicle, the time away and the two pay figures. An advert that answers those four things gets better applications than one that lists benefits.
Covasna is a majority Hungarian speaking county, and the obvious assumption is that driver adverts here will ask for Hungarian. They do not. Not one driver advert found in this county named a Hungarian language requirement, and the Hungarian language driver adverts that do exist in Romania cluster instead in Bihor, Satu Mare and Cluj, where the language is a cross border skill worth paying for. Here it is simply the ambient working language, so nobody advertises for it. Write the advert in Romanian and keep the standard vocabulary: șofer profesionist, categoria C+E, atestat profesional, card tahograf, and intern or extern. Romanian competence remains a compliance matter rather than a preference, because the licence, the atestat, the tachograph card and every roadside check are in Romanian, so it is a fair thing to assess at interview. A candidate fluent in both is an asset on westbound work through Hungary rather than a complication.
FastDriver.eu operates as a European driver job portal and allows candidates elsewhere in Europe and in eligible international markets to find and apply for suitable Romanian vacancies.
Start by ignoring most of what is published about this, because the system changed. The separate work permit that employers used to apply for has been abolished and replaced by a single application filed on a state platform. The old route was switched off months before the new platform opened, so guidance written before the change is not just dated, it describes a procedure that no longer exists.
Drivers sit on the shortage occupations list, which is the gate for the main employment route. For a haulier that is genuinely good news and it is the part of the system working in your favour.
The real barrier is not the paperwork. Filing directly requires a trading history, an average headcount above a published threshold and a financial guarantee for each worker. Most Romanian hauliers sit below that headcount, which means they cannot file at all and must go through a licensed placement agency instead. Check which side of that line your company falls on before you plan anything else, because it changes the whole approach.
The annual quota is a single national figure rather than a transport allocation, and it was cut rather than raised. A large share of it is consumed well before the year ends, so an application late in the cycle competes for what is left.
Employers in Covasna may receive applications from drivers based in Romania, elsewhere in the EU and EEA, Switzerland, the wider European region, Asia, Africa, Gulf countries, North America, Latin America and other eligible international markets.
EU, EEA and Swiss citizens may work in Romania without an authorisation. A Moldovan national holding Romanian citizenship is an EU citizen and needs nothing, while one without it faces full external border checks, because the Romanian border with Moldova is now a Schengen external frontier. The difference is large and it is worth establishing early in a conversation rather than late.
The employment contract has to reach the national register before the driver starts work, not afterwards. The register changed name and platform recently, and the penalties for undeclared work are severe with a high ceiling, so this is not a formality to leave until the first week.
A candidate's ability to work here depends on nationality, residence status, professional qualifications, driving licence validity and the requirements of the individual position. Nationality alone never settles it. Drivers can check their own position through our driving licence eligibility guidance.
FastDriver.eu can provide process guidance and document coordination when a candidate needs support. It does not make government decisions and cannot promise an approval.
Name the licence category in the advert. A Romanian driver reads it first, and C+E in the headline tells them immediately whether the job is theirs.
Freight work uses C and C+E, with C1 and C1E for lighter rigid vehicles. Passenger transport uses D and D1.
Age limits matter when you are planning a pipeline. C1 and C1E open at eighteen, C and C+E at twenty one and reduce to eighteen for a driver holding the professional qualification. D and DE open at twenty four and reduce to twenty one on the same basis. Heavy categories run five years.
Romania asks for something most member states do not. A professional driver needs an annual medical check and an annual psychological check, and the psychological opinion is also part of the file for exchanging a foreign licence. Employers arriving from elsewhere in the EU are regularly caught out by it.
The atestat profesional is issued by the national road authority, separately for goods and for passengers, and renewed every five years. A shorter conversion route exists for a driver moving between the two, so an experienced goods driver is not starting again to work on passenger transport.
Foreign licences need checking before you make an offer. EU and EEA licences exchange without a test. Beyond that it depends on whether the issuing country appears on the convention or reciprocity lists, and where it does not the driver sits the Romanian theory and practical examination, which they may now do without compulsory driving school.
Several of the countries Romanian hauliers recruit from most heavily could not be found on those exchange lists. That is not a conclusion that they are absent, but it does mean the question has to be settled for the specific country before a contract is signed, not assumed.
A professional qualification obtained outside the EU or EEA is not recognised here. An experienced driver arriving from outside Europe takes the Romanian qualification whatever they held before.
This is where the real timeline lives, and it is longer than most employers expect. The driver attestation that a Romanian operator needs in order to put a third country national on international work requires a Romanian licence and the professional qualification. A newly arrived driver has neither. The tachograph card also requires the work authorisation first. So the sequence is admission, then licence, then qualification, then attestation, and an employer who budgets only for the visa will be short by months.
One thing works in your favour. The professional examinations have been made available in English, which was done specifically to serve drivers recruited from South and South East Asia, so the qualification stage no longer requires Romanian first.
Unlike several other member states, the forklift authorisation in Romania is a genuine state authorisation issued to the individual rather than a permission the employer grants. ADR is required where the load needs it. Verifying the original documents remains the employer's responsibility.

Employers in Covasna can use FastDriver.eu to find drivers, advertise genuine vacancies and receive applications through a specialised European driver job portal.
The employer starts by submitting company details, work location, driver category, required licence, number of vacancies, experience level, working schedule, pay information and proposed start date.
The vacancy can then be prepared and promoted to relevant drivers through the platform, alongside the current driver vacancies already open.
Candidates apply for suitable positions. The employer reviews their information, conducts interviews and makes the final hiring decision.
FastDriver.eu does not become the employer. It does not replace the company's legal responsibility for candidate verification, employment contracts, remuneration or working conditions.
Employers that can consider international drivers should clearly state whether work authorisation guidance, visa process support, accommodation or relocation assistance is available.
This information must reflect the employer's actual offer. It must not be added only for search visibility.
Tell us how many drivers you need, the base or town they work from, the licence category, experience, routes, language requirements and proposed employment conditions.
Our team reviews your company details and checks that the vacancy contains what a Romanian driver needs in order to apply with confidence, including the category, whether the work is intern or extern, the atestat position, and salary and diurna stated separately.
The vacancy is prepared, published and promoted according to the selected employer option.
Drivers apply through the platform. The employer reviews applications, communicates with suitable candidates and arranges interviews.
The employer makes the final hiring decision, verifies the candidate and signs the employment contract directly with the selected driver.
When separately agreed, FastDriver.eu may provide immigration process guidance, document coordination and relocation preparation for eligible international candidates.
Complete and accurate information helps drivers understand the opportunity and allows the platform team to publish the vacancy correctly.
Do not request unrelated information.
FastDriver.eu provides the digital platform and any separately agreed support services.
The employer is responsible for confirming the vacancy, independently verifying each selected candidate, checking licence categories and the atestat position, and meeting all Romanian employment obligations.
FastDriver.eu does not issue government approvals.
FastDriver.eu cannot guarantee applications, candidate availability, candidate suitability, interview attendance, hiring, work authorisation approval, visa approval, licence recognition, processing time or continued employment.
All vacancies must be genuine, current, lawful and accurate.
Employers must not request unlawful recruitment or application payments from candidates.
It publishes driver vacancies, and that's it. You write the advert, it appears to drivers looking for work in this county, and applications arrive with you, unread by anyone else: no shortlist, no database, no fee when you hire. If a candidate needs permission to work, we can provide guidance and coordinate documents under a separate agreement.
It is neither, and in Romania that distinction has legal weight, since licensed placement agencies occupy a regulated position in third-country hiring. FastDriver.eu employs no drivers, supplies none to a Covasna business, and never enters into an employment relationship—the contract runs directly from your company to the driver you choose.
Labour availability. Covasna has the highest registered unemployment of the six Centru counties, more than double the rate in Brașov and Mureș, and it ranks closer to the national worst than to its neighbours. That ranking is long-standing rather than a recent blip, and the gap with the rest of the region has been widening.
Very little, and an employer should know that before planning around it. Only numbsingle-digit numbers of driver adverts were live across the whole county, and roughly those were national recruitment campaigns tagged to the area rather than local vacancies. What remains is parcel work in the seat plus a thin scatter of category C+E roles in the smaller towns.
None could be verified. Wecouldn't access aa usable directory of operators registered in this county, so the honest position is that the local haulage sector is small and fragmented nnot that it n'tdoesn't exist. The practical consequence is that an employer entering Covasna is not stepping into a pool of category C and E drivers already working professionally.
They do not, and the advert evidence makes that clear. No driver advert in this county names a Hungarian language requirement, because the language is ambient here rather than a listed skill. Romanian is used for paperwork and roadside checks, so Romanian competence is a compliance question. Bilingualism is an asset on westbound work, not a prerequisite for applying.
Three sectors make up most of the county's industry: food at about a third, ready-made garments and textiles at roughly a fifth, and wood and wood products at about a seventh. Covalact, Orkla, Schweighoffer Holzindustrie and Poliprod are among the named operations. Agri-food export intensity per capita here is the highest of these six counties.
It is the most compact county in the region but also one of the emptiest, landlocked between branches of the Carpathians with low population density. Rounds cover ground between few settlements rather than many; the county has no motorway, and the winter tyre duty switches on with snow, ice, or sleet rather than on a calendar date.
Not within this county, which has no restricted section of its own. The restriction applies to the road through Brașov county towards Ploiești, so whether it affects your work depends entirely on the route your vehicles take southwards. That is worth settling with the road authority before writing a schedule, because the road's lawful operating time is only a small share of the week.
Show basic salary and diurnă as two separate items, with the allowance expressed per day away for international work. A Romanian driver reads the allowance first, and a single monthly salary figure makes an international role look like domestic work. This page deliberately omits figures, but the offer's structure is what persuades people.
One application, filed on a new state platform, replaced the abolished aviz de angajare. The changeover was not seamless, because the old route closed months before the new system opened and nothing worked in between. Guidance published elsewhere that still refers to an aviz describes a repealed system and should not be relied on.
Rarely, because the thresholds are the obstacle; filing without an intermediary requires a trading record, an average headcount above a published figure, and a financial guarantee for each worker brought in. Most hauliers in a county this size fall below the headcount, so the route runs through a licensed placement agency instead of the company itself.
Lorry and bus driving occupatiappearpear on the shortage occupations list, whopenspens the main employment route. That eligibility is real, but it carries no reserved allocation. The national annual quota is a single figure covering every sector; it was reduced, not increased, and much of it is taken up long before the year closes.
Eighteen, provided the driver holds the professional qualification; without it, the baseline is twenty-one. The lighter C1 and C1E categories start at eighteen in any case, and passenger categories run from twenty-four, dropping to twenty-one with the qualification. Heavy categories are valid for five years, so the card's expiry date is itself a screening point.
It does not transfer. The atestat profesional is issued by the national road authority in separate goods and passenger streams, renewed every five years, and qualifications obtained outside the EU or EEA are not recognised. Examinations are available in English, specifically to serve drivers recruited from South and Southeast Asia.
Romania takes a different approach from several Western European member states here. The forklift document is a genuine state authorisation issued by the national inspectorate, not employer permission, so it belongs to the person and travels with them. A warehouse hire coming into Romania needs the Romanian authorisation, not an employer sign-off.
Chilled food rounds, parcel work, domestic categoria C+E or pe comunitate lorry runs: name the town, the vehicle, the category and the hours, and let drivers across Covasna apply to you directly.
In Covasna the employer does the recruiting, the selecting and the employing; this portal only carries the advert.
