For Île-de-France Employers
Île-de-France carries the national distribution function: goods arrive, are broken down and are redespatched for twelve and a half million people. Its warehouses have moved out past the Francilienne while the deliveries still have to reach the centre, so the driver market splits in two. Trunking and shuttle work sits in Seine-et-Marne, Val-d'Oise and Essonne, constrained urban delivery sits inside the A86, and the two are not the same hire. Publishing here should reach both.
A specialist driver audience • Applications come straight to you • Work authorisation guidance under a separate agreement
Eight departements form one continuous urban mass in which no commune outside Paris reaches a hundred and fifty thousand residents. Driver demand is spread across dozens of suburban despatch points rather than concentrated in a single city centre.
Name the licence category the vehicle actually needs, permis C for a rigid or permis CE for an articulated combination, say whether FIMO and FCO must already be current, and publish the commune with its departement number. Vacancies appear at www.fastdriver.eu/jobs/france.
FastDriver.eu publishes vacancies and stops there. It does not place drivers, does not operate as an agence d'intérim, holds nobody under a contract of mise à disposition and never becomes the employer. Applications reach your inbox and every selection decision stays inside your company.
One thing an operator new to the region learns late: goods vehicle delivery rules are set commune by commune, so a single urban round can cross several different regimes in a shift. More on publishing here sits on the France employer page.
Employers publishing here are recruiting chilled distribution drivers, plant and machinery transport drivers, urban delivery drivers, ADR tanker drivers and short rotation drivers working off the river and rail terminals.
Fresh and chilled distribution on fixed short rotations, permis CE, advertised as courte distance rather than long haul. Rungis trades in the middle of the night, so food work in southern Val-de-Marne and Essonne starts while the rest of the region is asleep.
Machinery and materials transport on permis CE, frequently with night running. Employers advertising this work in Seine-et-Marne and Essonne ask for stated experience on semi-plateau or porte-engins rather than the licence alone, so put that requirement in the advert.
Rigid delivery on permis C inside the A86 and the Paris périphérique. Stops in a delivery bay are limited to thirty minutes on a European parking disc, and for an articulated vehicle the length counted is the tractor plus the trailer.
Industrial gas and tanker work on permis CE with a current ADR certificate, advertised at sites such as Maurepas in the Yvelines. This is a separate pool from general haulage, and the ADR expiry runs from the basic course, not from any later specialisation.
Containers and aggregates arrive by water at Gennevilliers and Bonneuil-sur-Marne and leave by road for ten to forty kilometres. Tipper, skip and container rotations on permis C or CE, alongside a rail terminal at Valenton that opens at 04:00.
Adverts in this region are read for equipment before anything else: porte-engins, plateau, grue, frigorifique or ADR. State the vehicle and the kit, because a driver who arrives expecting plain trunking will not stay long.
Île-de-France is eight departements around Paris, ringed first by the A86 and then by the Francilienne. A driver judging a commute here is usually judging the distance from inner ring housing to an outer ring depot.
The Roissy platform spreads across six communes and three departements and handles the great majority of French air freight. Express work, airside feeds and trunking out of the Fret zones run to aircraft timetables, which means early departures.
Seine-et-Marne alone carries five logistics areas, among them Sénart, Marne-la-Vallée and the RN4 corridor, with road entries by the A1, the A4, the A6 and the A5. Most regional logistics floorspace now sits beyond the Francilienne.
Gennevilliers sits where the A86, A15, A1 and A14 meet, and Bonneuil-sur-Marne appears both as a river port and as an advertised driver location. Paris is France's leading river freight port.
South of the city, Rungis and Chevilly-Larue hold a market of some two hundred and thirty hectares with around thirteen thousand employees, reached from the A10 by the same access that serves Orly.
Driver work differs sharply between the capital region, the Channel and Mediterranean ports, the inland logistics corridors and the overseas regions. Open another region to see the hiring information that applies there.
French drivers search in French. An advert written only in English will miss most of the domestic market.
Two letters carry most of the meaning. PL means a rigid lorry and maps to permis C. SPL means an articulated combination and maps to permis CE. Using them the wrong way round marks an advert as written by someone outside the trade, and drivers notice.
The common advert titles are chauffeur routier, chauffeur SPL, chauffeur PL, conducteur SPL and conducteur routier for freight, chauffeur livreur for delivery work, and conducteur de car for coach work.
Conducteur receveur is worth knowing. It means a bus driver who also handles fares and passenger contact, and it is the standard title on urban network vacancies.
Write the licence as permis C or permis CE. Adverts also use the older EC form, so either is understood, and the category usually appears in the advert title rather than buried in the body.
FIMO is the initial qualification and FCO the periodic refresher. Adverts list them by name alongside the carte de qualification de conducteur and code 95. Name only what the role genuinely needs.
The carte de conducteur for the digital tachograph appears in most freight adverts, and ADR where the load requires it.
One term is regularly misunderstood. CACES is an assessment scheme, not a licence. The legal permission to operate a forklift is the employer's own autorisation de conduite, and the CACES supports it rather than replacing it.
Pay is referenced against the convention collective nationale des transports routiers and its coefficient system. Stating a coefficient, or a clear gross figure, does more for an advert than a vague range.
FastDriver.eu operates as a European driver job portal and allows candidates elsewhere in Europe and in eligible international markets to find and apply for suitable French vacancies.
For a candidate from outside the EU, the employer applies for the autorisation de travail through the ANEF portal. The application is the employer's to make, not the candidate's, and silence from the administration counts as a refusal rather than an approval, so track it rather than waiting.
Pay must reach at least the SMIC or the higher rate set by the convention collective nationale des transports routiers, whichever is greater. For driver roles the collective agreement is usually the binding figure, so check the coefficient for the post before you advertise a salary.
Unless an exemption applies, the employer must have published the vacancy for three weeks within the preceding six months before applying. The main exemption is the shortage occupation list, which is set by arrêté and is regional, so the list that matters is the annexe for this region rather than a national one.
Employers in Île-de-France may receive applications from drivers based in France, elsewhere in the EU and EEA, Switzerland, the wider European region, Asia, Africa, Gulf countries, North America, Latin America and other eligible international markets.
EU, EEA and Swiss citizens may work in France without a work authorisation. Licence validity and the professional qualification still apply to them exactly as they do to a French driver.
Where a French operator employs a driver who is a third country national, an attestation de conducteur is also required. It is issued by the DREAL, or the DRIEAT in the Paris region, and it is separate from the work authorisation.
A candidate's ability to work here depends on nationality, residence status, professional qualifications, driving licence validity and the requirements of the individual position. Nationality alone never settles it. Drivers can check their own position through our driving licence eligibility guidance.
FastDriver.eu can provide process guidance and document coordination when a candidate needs support. It does not make government decisions and cannot promise an approval.
Name the licence category in the advert. A French driver reads it first, and PL or SPL in the title tells them immediately whether the job is theirs.
Freight work uses permis C for rigid vehicles and permis CE for combinations, with C1 and C1E for lighter rigids. Passenger transport uses D and D1. Delivery roles in light vehicles sit in category B.
Age limits matter when planning a pipeline. C1 and C1E open at eighteen, C and CE at twenty one, D1 and D1E at twenty one and D and DE at twenty four. C and CE drop to eighteen for a driver holding the initial qualification.
Heavy category validity is tied to age rather than a fixed term, and every renewal requires a medical examination by an approved doctor. The interval shortens as the driver gets older, which is worth knowing before you build a rota around one person.
FIMO is the initial qualification, one hundred and forty hours, with a longer initial route of two hundred and eighty. FCO is thirty five hours every five years. Both are evidenced by the carte de qualification de conducteur and by code 95.
The passerelle between goods and passenger work runs thirty five hours in either direction, but read it carefully before you plan around it. It converts the qualification, not the licence. A driver moving to coach work must already hold the passenger category, so it widens your field only among drivers who already hold both.
Foreign licences need care. An EU or EEA licence is valid in France. Outside that, exchange depends on a reciprocity agreement with the issuing country, and the agreements differ in scope: some cover all categories, many cover only cars and motorcycles. A heavy category can only be exchanged where the agreement covers it, and the exchange must be started within a year of the driver establishing residence. Check the country before you make an offer, not after.
A professional qualification obtained outside the EU or EEA is not recognised in France. An experienced driver arriving from outside Europe must take FIMO here, whatever they held before. Budget realistic time for that rather than discovering it after a contract is signed.
A carte de conducteur is required for the digital tachograph on in scope work, and ADR training where the load needs it. Say which of these the role actually needs, and remember that verifying the original documents remains the employer's responsibility.

Employers in Île-de-France can use FastDriver.eu to find drivers, advertise genuine vacancies and receive applications through a specialised European driver job portal.
The employer starts by submitting company details, work location, driver category, required licence, number of vacancies, experience level, working schedule, salary information and proposed start date.
The vacancy can then be prepared and promoted to relevant drivers through the platform, alongside the current driver vacancies already open.
Candidates apply for suitable positions. The employer reviews their information, conducts interviews and makes the final hiring decision.
FastDriver.eu does not become the employer. It does not replace the company's legal responsibility for candidate verification, employment contracts, remuneration or working conditions.
Employers that can consider international drivers should clearly state whether work authorisation guidance, visa process support, accommodation or relocation assistance is available.
This information must reflect the employer's actual offer. It must not be added only for search visibility.
Tell us how many drivers you need, the depot or town they work from, the licence category, experience, routes, language requirements and proposed employment conditions.
Our team reviews your company details and checks that the vacancy contains what a French driver needs in order to apply with confidence, including the category, whether the work is PL or SPL, the FIMO and FCO position and the schedule.
The vacancy is prepared, published and promoted according to the selected employer option.
Drivers apply through the platform. The employer reviews applications, communicates with suitable candidates and arranges interviews.
The employer makes the final hiring decision, verifies the candidate and signs the employment contract directly with the selected driver.
When separately agreed, FastDriver.eu may provide immigration process guidance, document coordination and relocation preparation for eligible international candidates.
Complete and accurate information helps drivers understand the opportunity and allows the platform team to publish the vacancy correctly.
Do not request unrelated information.
FastDriver.eu provides the digital platform and any separately agreed support services.
The employer is responsible for confirming the vacancy, independently verifying each selected candidate, checking driving licences and the FIMO and FCO position, and meeting all French employment obligations.
FastDriver.eu does not issue government approvals.
FastDriver.eu cannot guarantee applications, candidate availability, candidate suitability, interview attendance, hiring, work authorisation approval, visa approval, licence recognition, processing time or continued employment.
All vacancies must be genuine, current, lawful and accurate.
Employers must not request unlawful recruitment or application payments from candidates.
FastDriver.eu is a job portal built for professional drivers. You write and publish a genuine vacancy for a named commune in the region; drivers read it and apply to you, and you interview and hire on your own terms. The portal carries the advert and nothing beyond it. It does not employ drivers, does not supply them under hire and cannot guarantee that applications will arrive.
FastDriver.eu is neither, and the distinction is read closely in France, where agences d’intérim dominate driver hiring. There is no mise à disposition, no placement commission and no involvement in your shortlist. The employment relationship is between your company and the driver, with no intermediary role and no supply of workers under hire.
Anyone holding the right to work in France together with the licence category you have named. French, other EU, EEA and Swiss nationals need nothing beyond an identity document. A national of any other country needs a residence document authorising salaried work, or a work authorisation that you apply for. Screening applications against those conditions remains your task.
The employer submits the application through the ANEF portal run by the Interior Ministry. Silence for two months counts as a refusal. Pay must be at least the SMIC, or the higher rate set by the convention collective nationale des transports routiers where that applies. FastDriver.eu can provide process guidance and document coordination under a separate agreement, and makes no government decision.
The regional annexe for Île-de-France contains no road haulage driver entry, so the sheer volume of driver vacancies around Paris confers no exemption. Before a work authorisation application, the vacancy must have been published for three consecutive weeks within the preceding six months. The list is set by arrêté and is regional, so check the annexe in force rather than assuming.
Both terms are in daily use,e and they describe different vehicles. PL is a rigid and maps to permis C. SPL is an articulated combination and maps to permis CE, also written EC. Articulated work advertised in this region is mostly specialised: porte-engins, plateau, crane, tipper, ADR gas, or refrigerated. Most are volumists in rigid and light commercial delivery.
Professional driving becomes unlawful the day the qualification lapses, so a driver with an expired FCO cannot drive for you. FIMO runs for 140 hours, or 280 on the longer initial route, and FCO is 35 hours every five years. The evidence is the carte de qualification de conducteur, and the licence carries code 95 with its own expiry.
The zone à faibles émissions of the Métropole du Grand Paris currently covers 77 communes and bans Crit’Air 3, 4, and 5 vehicles, with heavy goods vehicles, buses, and coaches restricted every day from 08:00 to 20:00. It constrains the fleet rather than the driver, because it depends on which vehicle makes which delivery. The national framework is under review, so confirm the position before committing a fleet.
No commune outside Paris reaches a hundred and fifty thousand residents, and the depots sit in the suburbs rather than in the city. A driver reads the commune and the two digit departement number to work out a commute, and an advert headed simply Paris tells them nothing useful. Writing Mitry-Mory (77) or Athis-Mons (91) draws a far more accurate response.
They are structurally normal here rather than a premium exception. Rungis trades through the middle of the night and its stands are empty by the late morning; the combined transport terminal at Valenton opens at 04:00, and air cargo at Roissy runs to aircraft timetables. A low-emission zone derogation for shifted hours between 21:00 and 06:00 pushes further work into the night.
They do, and it is a genuine burden on an urban round. The Ville de Paris sets its own goods-vehicle circulation, stopping, and parking rules, with periodic bays marked by a broken yellow line and permanent bays by a double solid yellow line. Neighbouring communes set their own, which is why a harmonised regulation was trialled across Les Lilas, Romainville and Drancy.
Express integrator work, airside handling feeds and trunking out of the Fret zones are advertised and staffed apart from general haulage. The freight estate runs to seven zones across some three hundred hectares, with Air France Cargo, FedEx, La Poste, Geodis Euromatic, Bolloré Logistics and Kuehne+Nagel on site. An advert for this work should say so, because the timetable is the real differentiator.
No honest figure in weeks exists. It turns on the licence category, the shift pattern, the depot’s position relative to affordable housing and how the pay reads against the convention collective. Where work authorisation is involved, the only fixed period is the two months of silence that counts as a refusal. FastDriver.eu cannot guarantee applications, candidate availability, interview attendance or a hire.
Consider them, but check two separate things. Heavy categories can be exchanged only where the issuing country appears on the reciprocity list marked Toutes, and the exchange must be started within a year of establishing residence. Separately, a professional qualification obtained outside the EU or EEA is not recognised, so the driver sits FIMO afresh in France. Solving one does not solve the other.
In this region, the issuing body is the DRIEAT, where a DREAL performs the equivalent role elsewhere in France. The attestation is requiredwhene a French operator employs athird-countryy national driver, and it sits alongside the licence, the professional qualificatio,n and the work authorisation rather than replacing any of them. Allow for it in the start date you offer.
Everything that decides the hire. Writing an accurate advert, checking the licence category, the code 95 expiry and the carte de conducteur, verifying a residence document with the prefecture where one applies, filing the DPAE, applying for any work authorisation, and issuing your own autorisation de conduite where a forklift is involved, since CACES is an assessment scheme and not a licence.
Driver hiring in Île-de-France is decided on commute, shift tolerance and vehicle type rather than on distance from home. Set those out plainly in the advert and publish it where drivers across the eight departements are looking.
Employers advertising in Île-de-France recruit, select and employ their drivers directly.
