Chilled foodservice delivery on permis C, advertised in both Orléans and Tours by national foodservice distributors. The round is early, the drops are numerous and the driver handles the goods, so the advert should say how many deliveries a shift involves.
Concrete mixer and construction site work on permis C, advertised around Saint-Jean-le-Blanc and Châteauroux. Some listings pair driving with site labouring, which is a different job from distribution, so describe the split of duties rather than leaving a candidate to discover it.
Waste and recycling collection on permis C, advertised in the Indre-et-Loire among other departements. The work is local and fixed round, which suits a driver who wants to be home nightly, and that is worth stating plainly in the advert.
Water tanker, builders' merchant and plant hire delivery on permis C, advertised around Bourges and the Orléans periphery. Loading and unloading form much of the day, and handling equipment brings the employer's own autorisation de conduite into the picture.
Articulated trunking on permis CE to and from the platforms at Saran, Artenay-Poupry, Mer and Sorigny. Much of this work is run by national carriers whose drivers are based elsewhere, so a local advert competes with them rather than with other local employers.
Because so many local adverts look alike on the licence line, the differentiators are the round, the start time and the handling involved. Say whether the driver unloads, and whether an autorisation de conduite for handling equipment will be required.
The region stretches from Chartres in the north to Châteauroux in the south, with Orléans and Tours on the Loire between them. It is one of France's largest regions by area and least dense by population, so commuting distances are real.
Orléans, Tours and Blois together hold the largest part of regional logistics employment, and Orléans Métropole shows the highest concentration of all. Saran, Artenay, Poupry, Neuville-aux-Bois, Mer and Sorigny are the names that recur.
Orléans is where the A10 towards Bordeaux and the A71 towards Clermont-Ferrand separate, which is the plainest explanation of why the logistics weight settles there rather than at Tours.
The southern axis of Châteauroux, Bourges and Vierzon also runs a high logistics share of local employment, and Châteauroux airport is a freight specialised airport, the only air cargo asset in the region.
Cosmetic Park at Boigny-sur-Bionne covers eighty hectares, and a further logistics site sits on the A11 near Illiers-Combray in the Eure-et-Loir. Nine motorways cross the region in total.

French drivers search in French. An advert written only in English will miss most of the domestic market.
Two letters carry most of the meaning. PL means a rigid lorry and maps to permis C. SPL means an articulated combination and maps to permis CE. Using them the wrong way round marks an advert as written by someone outside the trade, and drivers notice.
The common advert titles are chauffeur routier, chauffeur SPL, chauffeur PL, conducteur SPL and conducteur routier for freight, chauffeur livreur for delivery work, and conducteur de car for coach work.
Conducteur receveur is worth knowing. It means a bus driver who also handles fares and passenger contact, and it is the standard title on urban network vacancies.
Write the licence as permis C or permis CE. Adverts also use the older EC form, so either is understood, and the category usually appears in the advert title rather than buried in the body.
FIMO is the initial qualification and FCO the periodic refresher. Adverts list them by name alongside the carte de qualification de conducteur and code 95. Name only what the role genuinely needs.
The carte de conducteur for the digital tachograph appears in most freight adverts, and ADR where the load requires it.
One term is regularly misunderstood. CACES is an assessment scheme, not a licence. The legal permission to operate a forklift is the employer's own autorisation de conduite, and the CACES supports it rather than replacing it.
Pay is referenced against the convention collective nationale des transports routiers and its coefficient system. Stating a coefficient, or a clear gross figure, does more for an advert than a vague range.
The advert language here is almost entirely PL. In a regional sample of chauffeur poids lourd listings, only one advert mentioned SPL at all, and that was an agency offering either category. Everything else asked for permis C: chilled foodservice, concrete mixer, waste collection, water tanker, builders' merchant delivery and plant hire. The explanation is structural rather than accidental, since road transport carries just over half of the region's logistics employment while the articulated trunking into the large platforms is largely run by national carriers whose drivers are domiciled and advertised elsewhere. Head an advert with PL and permis C for rigid work, and keep SPL and permis CE, also written EC, for genuinely articulated roles.

For a candidate from outside the EU, the employer applies for the autorisation de travail through the ANEF portal. The application is the employer's to make, not the candidate's, and silence from the administration counts as a refusal rather than an approval, so track it rather than waiting.
Pay must reach at least the SMIC or the higher rate set by the convention collective nationale des transports routiers, whichever is greater. For driver roles the collective agreement is usually the binding figure, so check the coefficient for the post before you advertise a salary.
Unless an exemption applies, the employer must have published the vacancy for three weeks within the preceding six months before applying. The main exemption is the shortage occupation list, which is set by arrêté and is regional, so the list that matters is the annexe for this region rather than a national one.

Name the licence category in the advert. A French driver reads it first, and PL or SPL in the title tells them immediately whether the job is theirs.
Freight work uses permis C for rigid vehicles and permis CE for combinations, with C1 and C1E for lighter rigids. Passenger transport uses D and D1. Delivery roles in light vehicles sit in category B.
Age limits matter when planning a pipeline. C1 and C1E open at eighteen, C and CE at twenty one, D1 and D1E at twenty one and D and DE at twenty four. C and CE drop to eighteen for a driver holding the initial qualification.
Heavy category validity is tied to age rather than a fixed term, and every renewal requires a medical examination by an approved doctor. The interval shortens as the driver gets older, which is worth knowing before you build a rota around one person.
FIMO is the initial qualification, one hundred and forty hours, with a longer initial route of two hundred and eighty. FCO is thirty five hours every five years. Both are evidenced by the carte de qualification de conducteur and by code 95.
The passerelle between goods and passenger work runs thirty five hours in either direction, but read it carefully before you plan around it. It converts the qualification, not the licence. A driver moving to coach work must already hold the passenger category, so it widens your field only among drivers who already hold both.
Foreign licences need care. An EU or EEA licence is valid in France. Outside that, exchange depends on a reciprocity agreement with the issuing country, and the agreements differ in scope: some cover all categories, many cover only cars and motorcycles. A heavy category can only be exchanged where the agreement covers it, and the exchange must be started within a year of the driver establishing residence. Check the country before you make an offer, not after.
A professional qualification obtained outside the EU or EEA is not recognised in France. An experienced driver arriving from outside Europe must take FIMO here, whatever they held before. Budget realistic time for that rather than discovering it after a contract is signed.
A carte de conducteur is required for the digital tachograph on in scope work, and ADR training where the load needs it. Say which of these the role actually needs, and remember that verifying the original documents remains the employer's responsibility.

Driver hiring in France runs heavily through agences d’intérim, and this service works differently: no worker is placed at your disposal, no commission is charged on a hire, and no part of the selection is taken out of your hands. The employment contract is between the driver and your business alone.
Drivers who have the right to work in France and are in the category the advert names. EU, EEA and Swiss nationals need only an identity document. Any other national needs either a residence document permitting salaried work or a work authorisation that the employer has obtained. The portal does not pre-screen applicants against those conditions on your behalf.
The employer files the application on the ANEF portal before the driver starts, and two months of silence counts as a refusal rather than an approval. A permanent contract leads to the carte de séjour salarié; a fixed-term contract leads to the carte de séjour travailleur temporaire. Remuneration must meet the SMIC or the transport convention collective minimum, whichever is greater. Guidance is available under a separate agreement.
None appears in this region’s annexe. The region's logistics weight makes no difference, nor does recruitment difficulty: the exemption depends on the occupation being listed for the region, and here it is not. So the vacancy must have been published for three consecutive weeks in the preceding six months before applying for a work authorisation. Check the annexe in force.
Because the two measure different populations: road transport makes up just over half of regional logistics employment, and warehousing roughly a quarter. At the same time, the articulated trunking serving the large platforms is largely operated by national carriers whose drivers are based and advertised elsewhere. What is advertised locally is rigid delivery into sites, which an employer assuming SPL will miss entirely.
Along the Loire axis and the motorways. Saran in the Loiret sits beside the A10 north of Orléans, with Amazon there and Deret opposite. The Artenay-Poupry zone straddles the Loiret and the Eure-et-Loir, Cosmetic Park covers eighty hectares at Boigny-sur-Bionne, and further concentrations sit at Neuville-aux-Bois, Mer and Sorigny towards Tours.
Land and rent, mainly. Warehouse rents in this region sit several euros per square metre below the Paris region on comparable stock, making it one of the cheapest zones in France, while the A10 and the A71 keep it close to both Paris and the rest of the country. The region is also among the least built up in France.
In the north of the region, plainly so. Areas on the Île-de-France border south of Chartres have more than a fifth of local employment in logistics, putting Eure-et-Loir employers in direct competition with operators in the Paris region for a shared pool of drivers. An advert there has to be judged against Paris region pay and rosters, not only local ones.
More vocational than the national average, with a high share holding a CAP or BEP and a comparatively low share holding a degree, which suits driving work. Against that, the population is static and ageing; four of the six departments are losing people. Theregion's own guidance service reports strong recruitment difficulty in warehousing even where the need is modest.
Châteauroux airport is freight-specialised and the only air cargo asset here. On the rail side, the national combined transport terminal list names no terminal in the region, and there is no commercial port, the region being landlocked. For an employer, that means road is effectively the whole of the local driver market.
Orléans is the junction where the two axes separate: the A10 continues towards Bordeaux while the A71 turns for Vierzon, Bourges and Clermont-Ferrand. A load leaving Orléans can reach either corridor without backtracking. Orléans Métropole accordingly shows the highest concentration of logistics employment in the region, where driver demand also concentrates.
The commune, the vehicle, permis C or permis CE, whether FIMO and FCO must be current on day one, the start time and whether the driver handles the goods. Local adverts look alike on the licence line, so the round and the handling are what distinguish yours. State any requirement for an autorisation de conduite for handling equipment.
We can't promise anything, and it varies by role. A chilled delivery round, a concrete mixer seat and an articulated truck job draw on different candidates, and the truck job competes with national carriers. Where work authorisation is involved, the publication test and the two-month decision period apply on top. Applications, suitability and hires are outside the portal’s control.
Sometimes, but check both halves of the problem. Heavy categories transfer only from countries listed as Toutes on the reciprocity list, and the exchange has to begin within a year of establishing residence in France. The professional qualification is separate: qualifications obtained outside the EU or EEA are not recognised, so a French FIMO is required before the driver works.
Every part of the hire after the advert. Checking the licence category and the expiry of the heavy categories, which follows the driver’s age rather than a fixed period; checking code 95 and the tachograph card; filing the DPAE; verifying any residence document with the prefecture; and issuing your own autorisation de conduite where a forklift is used, CACES being an assessment rather than a permission.
