For Southwest Finland Employers
This region points at Sweden. Naantali carries more than half the lorry and trailer traffic between Southwest Finland and Sweden, Turku runs the passenger and liner port alongside its shipyard, and Uusikaupunki assembles vehicles up the coast. The driver pool is roughly a quarter the size of the capital region's, so a vacancy here is often a search for one named person rather than a share of a crowd. Publishing the vacancy here puts it in front of drivers in Finland and further afield, and the applications come back to you.
Vacancies published by the employer • Applicants from the region, from Europe and from eligible markets abroad • Optional permit and document coordination
Southwest Finland runs from Turku and Naantali out through Lieto and Uusikaupunki into a working archipelago. Its freight is Sweden ferry traffic, shipyard and vehicle plant movement, and regional distribution around the ring road.
Set the vacancy out as a driver reads it: C-kortti or CE-kortti, whether ammattipätevyys is needed, which depot the shift starts from, and whether the run includes a sailing. Finnish vacancies are listed at www.fastdriver.eu/jobs/finland.
FastDriver.eu publishes vacancies and stops there. It is not a recruitment agency, not a temporary employment agency and not an employer of drivers, and the employment relationship belongs to your company from the first application onwards.
Worth knowing before you write it: an advert addressed only to Turku misses part of the pool, because Lieto turns up repeatedly in the regional driver listings as a second centre with crane and earthmoving work. Name both towns, and name the sailing if the job has one. The Finland employer page sets out the national requirements.
Employers here recruit ferry-bound combination drivers, regional lorry drivers, industrial and project transport crews, crane and earthmoving operators, and van drivers whose role carries a trade skill alongside the licence.
Advertise yhdistelmäajoneuvonkuljettaja roles in CE-kortti for Sweden traffic through Naantali, where the driver travels with the unit and the sailing sets the clock. State the crossing, because a domestic trunking driver will not expect it.
Publish kuorma-autonkuljettaja work in C-kortti for distribution around Turku and out along the coast, much of it moving on the Kt 40 ring road. Say where the depot is, since the ring road decides the commute more than the address does.
Reach experienced CE-kortti drivers for shipyard component loads at Turku and for vehicle and component movement to and from Uusikaupunki. This work runs to planned routes and predictable hours, which suits a steadier applicant than high-variety distribution.
Advertise nosturiauton kuljettaja, maansiirtokuljettaja, kaivinkoneenkuljettaja and pyöräkuormaajan kuljettaja roles around Turku and Lieto. These vacancies chase the same licence holders as haulage does, so state plainly which competences you are willing to pay extra for.
Publish pakettiauton kuljettaja roles where the job combines driving with something else, as with the local van work requiring an electrical permit. Spell out the second skill in the title, because it narrows the field and raises the rate.
In a market this size a misleading title is remembered. Describe the sailing, the load and the hours the job really has, because applicants here talk to each other and to the same handful of agencies.
The region occupies the south west corner of the mainland with Turku at its centre, Naantali a short run away on the coast, Lieto inland towards Tampere and Uusikaupunki further up the shoreline. Water, not road distance, decides how far away anything really is.
Most advertised work is placed against Turku, with Lieto appearing often enough to count as a separate catchment. Naantali and Uusikaupunki carry their own freight-generating employers and earn their own adverts rather than a mention.
Say whether the role is ferry-bound. Work through Naantali runs to sailing times, and a driver who has only done domestic trunking should learn how much of the day a crossing absorbs before the first shift, not during it.
Rounds towards Parainen and the archipelago cross water, so the day is longer than the map suggests and there is less room to absorb a delay earlier on. Plan the schedule that way and describe it that way in the advert.
The pool is thinner than the capital region's: 62 driver vacancies were live here on the day the job board was checked, against 216 in Uusimaa, and agencies placed most of them. Expect a longer search and a more specific one.
Driver work differs sharply between the capital region, the industrial coast, the eastern border regions and the far north. Open another region to see the hiring information that applies there.
Finnish drivers search in Finnish. An advert written only in English will miss most of the domestic market, and Swedish matters on the west coast and on the islands.
Kuorma-autonkuljettaja is the standard lorry title and linja-autonkuljettaja the bus one. Yhdistelmaajoneuvonkuljettaja covers combination vehicle work, and taysperavaununkuljettaja and puoliperavaununkuljettaja appear where the trailer type is the point.
Distribution work is written as jakelukuljettaja, or as the base title with the work attached, as in elintarvikejakeluun, kappaletavarajakeluun or yojakeluun. CE-kuljettaja is used as a job title in its own right.
Write the licence as C-kortti, CE-kortti or D-kortti. The formal C-luokka form is correct but adverts do not use it, and Finnish employers usually put the category in the headline in brackets rather than burying it in the body.
Ammattipatevyys is the professional competence, carried as code 95. Name it only where the role genuinely needs it.
One term catches employers out. Kuljettajakortti in a Finnish advert means the digital tachograph card, not the competence card, which is the ammattipatevyyskortti. The two are listed separately in real adverts and confusing them will mislead candidates.
Pay is routinely stated as AKT TES mukainen, meaning according to the collective agreement. Adverts also list ADR-kortti and trukkikortti where the work requires them, and tyoturvallisuuskortti is common across logistics roles.
A practical approach is a Finnish advert naming the category and the ammattipatevyys position, with an English version when you also want candidates from outside Finland.
Adverts here are written in Finnish and that is where the search volume sits, but Egentliga Finland has a genuine Swedish-speaking presence towards the archipelago and Parainen, and a Swedish version of the advert reaches it. The Finland-Swedish forms to use are chaufför and lastbilsförare for a lorry driver, kombinationsfordonsförare for combination work, busschaufför or bussförare for a bus. The licence itself is a körkort and the category is written C-körkort or CE, the professional competence is yrkeskompetens and shows as kod 95, and the tachograph card is a förarkort. The size of the Swedish-speaking share in this region was not established in research, so treat it as a real recruitment channel rather than a measured one.
FastDriver.eu operates as a European driver job portal and allows candidates elsewhere in Europe and in eligible international markets to find and apply for suitable Finnish vacancies.
The Finnish Immigration Service, Migri, now decides these applications on its own. The separate labour market decision that the employment office used to issue no longer exists. The driver applies, and the employer then supplements the application with the terms of employment through Enter Finland for Employers.
Two figures shape the offer you can make. The gross salary must reach the published monthly minimum for an employed person, currently 1,600 euros, and supplements such as evening and night work do not count towards it. Driver pay is often built from a base plus supplements, so check the base alone clears the threshold before you advertise.
Availability consideration applies here. Before applying for a driver from outside the EU or EEA, the employer posts the job on Job Market Finland for two weeks on the same terms that the application will carry. The regional work permit guidelines are reviewed twice a year, so check the current position for this region before you plan a timeline.
Employers here may receive applications from drivers based in Finland, elsewhere in the EU and EEA, Switzerland, the wider European region, Asia, Africa, Gulf countries, North America, Latin America and other eligible international markets.
EU, EEA and Swiss citizens may work in Finland without a permit, though a right of residence registration applies beyond three months. Nordic citizens register with the Digital and Population Data Services Agency instead. Licence validity and professional competence requirements still apply to all of them.
Where a Finnish goods operator employs a driver who is a third country national, a driver attestation from Traficom, the kuljettajatodistus, is also required. The operator gives the original to the driver to carry, keeps certified copies and returns it when the employment ends.
A candidate's ability to work here depends on nationality, residence status, professional qualifications, driving licence validity and the requirements of the individual position. Nationality alone never settles it. Drivers can check their own position through our driving licence eligibility guidance.
FastDriver.eu can provide process guidance and document coordination when a candidate needs support. It does not make government decisions and cannot promise an approval.
Name the licence category in the advert. It is the first thing a Finnish driver looks for, and it belongs in the headline.
Freight work uses C and CE, with C1 and C1E for lighter rigid vehicles. Passenger transport uses D and D1. Van and courier roles sit in category B.
Age limits matter when you are planning a pipeline. C and CE open at twenty one, or at eighteen where the driver holds the full professional competence. D opens at twenty four, reduced to twenty three, twenty one or eighteen depending on the qualification held.
Professional drivers in the C and D categories need ammattipatevyys, shown as code 95 on the licence. The initial qualification runs two hundred and eighty hours, or one hundred and forty on the accelerated route by age band, and periodic training runs thirty five hours every five years.
One point widens your field considerably. A driver who already holds competence in one branch can add the other with a thirty five or seventy hour course rather than repeating the initial qualification. That is the route to move an experienced lorry driver into bus work, or the reverse, though it does not by itself grant the licence category.
Foreign licences need care. An EU or EEA licence is valid in Finland while it remains valid. A licence from a contracting state can be exchanged, but a lorry or bus category always requires the full Finnish driving examination, theory and practical. Licences from other recognised states require an examination for every category.
A professional competence obtained outside the EU or EEA is not recognised in Finland. An experienced driver arriving from outside Europe will need the Finnish qualification, or one issued by another EU or EEA state, before they can do the work. Budget realistic time for that rather than discovering it after an offer.
A driver card for the digital tachograph is required on in scope work, and ADR training where the load needs it. A medical certificate applies to the heavy categories and renews more often with age. Say which of these the role actually needs, and remember that verifying the original documents remains the employer's responsibility.

Employers in Southwest Finland can use FastDriver.eu to find drivers, advertise genuine vacancies and receive applications through a specialised European driver job portal.
The employer starts by submitting company details, work location, driver category, required licence, number of vacancies, experience level, working schedule, salary information and proposed start date.
The vacancy can then be prepared and promoted to relevant drivers through the platform, alongside the current driver vacancies already open.
Candidates apply for suitable positions. The employer reviews their information, conducts interviews and makes the final hiring decision.
FastDriver.eu does not become the employer. It does not replace the company's legal responsibility for candidate verification, employment contracts, remuneration or working conditions.
Employers that can consider international drivers should clearly state whether work authorisation guidance, visa process support, accommodation or relocation assistance is available.
This information must reflect the employer's actual offer. It must not be added only for search visibility.
Tell us how many drivers you need, the depot or town they work from, the licence category, experience, routes, language requirements and proposed employment conditions.
Our team reviews your company details and checks that the vacancy contains what a Finnish driver needs in order to apply with confidence, including the category, the ammattipatevyys position and the shift.
The vacancy is prepared, published and promoted according to the selected employer option.
Drivers apply through the platform. The employer reviews applications, communicates with suitable candidates and arranges interviews.
The employer makes the final hiring decision, verifies the candidate and signs the employment contract directly with the selected driver.
When separately agreed, FastDriver.eu may provide immigration process guidance, document coordination and relocation preparation for eligible international candidates.
Complete and accurate information helps drivers understand the opportunity and allows the platform team to publish the vacancy correctly.
Do not request unrelated information.
FastDriver.eu provides the digital platform and any separately agreed support services.
The employer is responsible for confirming the vacancy, independently verifying each selected candidate, checking driving licences and the ammattipatevyys position, and meeting all Finnish employment obligations.
FastDriver.eu does not issue government approvals.
FastDriver.eu cannot guarantee applications, candidate availability, candidate suitability, interview attendance, hiring, work authorisation approval, visa approval, licence recognition, processing time or continued employment.
All vacancies must be genuine, current, lawful and accurate.
Employers must not request unlawful recruitment or application payments from candidates.
It is a driver job portal. A company in Turku, Naantali, Lieto or Uusikaupunki publishes a genuine vacancy; the advert reaches drivers searching in Finland and further afield, and applications come back to the employer rather than to an intermediary. If an applicant needs work authorisation, the process can be guided and the documents coordinated under a separate agreement.
It is not. The portal advertises vacancies; it is not a recruitment agency, not a temporary employment agency and not a supplier of hired labour, and it does not employ drivers itself. The company that publishes the vacancy interviews and employs the driver. As a result, we cannot promise applications, candidate availability, or a completed hire.
You provide the vacancy as you want candidates to read it, and we publish it on the portal. You settle commercial terms directly with FastDriver. eu. They should be confirmed for your own account rather than taken from a regional page, and permit guidance or document coordination sits outside publication under its own agreement. No price, processing time or outcome is stated here.
Legally operating transport businesses recruiting in the region: hauliers, distribution operators, ferry freight operators, industrial and project transport companies, construction transport firms, plant operators and licensed passenger transport businesses. The vacancy must be genuine, and the advertised terms must match the terms on offer, because candidates in a market this size quickly check one advert against another. Which is the region’s freight port, Turku or Naantali?
Naantali, by a wide margin. The Port of Naantali says more than half of all lorry and trailer traffic between this region and Sweden moves through it, and in the national port cargo study it handled about 3.87 million tonnes versus about 1.68 million at Turku. Turku is the passenger and liner port with a route to Stockholm—Point Sweden-bound recruitment at Naantali.
Thinner than employers used to the capital region expect. On the day the largest Finnish job board was checked, the region carried 62 open driver vacancies with 31 posted in the previous week, about 29 per cent of the Uusimaa figure. Staffing agencies placed most of them. Plan on a longer search and on competing for a specific named candidate.
On a ro-pax sailing, the driver travels with the vehicle, so the working day is organised around departure and arrival rather than a delivery schedule. Arrival discipline matters more than route flexibility, because the ship does not wait and the next sailing may be hours away. Drivers moving from domestic trunking underestimate this, so put the crossing in the advert.
Advertising only against Turku leaves part of the commutable pool untouched. Lieto appeared repeatedly in the regional driver listings as a second centre, carrying excavator work and a CE crane role, and Naantali and Uusikaupunki hold their own freight-generating employers. In a market of this size, naming the actual town and depot matters more than it would in the capital region.
It changes them materially. The region covers roughly 10,677 square kilometres of land but roughly 20,538 including water, so almost half of it is sea. A round that crosses water takes longer than its map distance implies, is planned differently and tolerates far less slippage earlier in the day. Build that into the schedule and into what the advert promises.
Finnish carries the search volume, but Egentliga Finland has a real Swedish-speaking presence towards the archipelago and Parainen. Hence, a Swedish-speaking applicant is not unusual, and a Swedish version of the advert is worth having. The size of that share could not be verified in research, so it is offered as a recruitment channel rather than a measured figure. What your own customers and sites require is a separate question.
Write C-kortti or CE-kortti for goods work and D-kortti for buses, since those are the forms candidates search for. The goods categories open at 21, or at 18 for a driver who already holds full professional competence, and the bus category opens at 24, coming down to 23, 2,1, or 18 depending on the driver’s qualifications. Add the vehicle and the load type so the applicant can judge the job.
Ammattipätevyys is the professional driver qualification. The initial route runs to 280 hours and the accelerated one to 140, and it stays valid through 35 hours of periodic training in each five-year cycle, marked as code 95. Kuljettajakortti in an advert is the digital tachograph card; the competence card is the ammattipätevyyskortti. Keeping the two separate avoids misunderstanding in an interview, and a driver competent in goods work can add passenger work with a -35- or -70-hour course.
You can, provided you plan the process. Migri now decides the residence permit for an employed person alone, based on a minimum gross salary of 1,600 euros a month; evening and night supplements cannot be counted toward it. Lorry and special vehicle drivers appear only in the Sisä-Suomi work permit guideline, covering Pirkanmaa and Kanta-Häme. Hence, an employer here first advertises the job on Job Market Finland for a fortnight on the terms the application will carry.
An EU or EEA licence is valid here for as long as it remains valid. Licences from contracting states can be exchanged, with one firm exception: the lorry and bus categories always mean sitting the Finnish driving examination, and licences from other recognised states mean an examination in every category. Professional competence earned outside the EU and EEA does not carry over. Traficom issues the driver attestation a Finnish goods operator needs when it employs a third-country national.
Industrial rather than retail work. Shipbuilding at Turku generates inbound component movement and project loads, and vehicle assembly at Uusikaupunki generates inbound component and finished-vehicle outbound flows. Both favour planned routes, steady hours and drivers who want repetition rather than variety. Volumes for either flow were not verified in research, so none are quoted here.
The employment side stays with you: eligibility to work, the licence category, competence, a valid tachograph card, the terms, the interview,w and the offer. Speed depends on your own decision loop and, for a non-EU candidate, on the fortnight of job posting and the permit decision that follows it. The portal carries the advert and can coordinate documents under a separate agreement, without deciding anything on an authority’s behalf.
Advertise a driver vacancy for Turku, Naantali, Lieto, Uusikaupunki or an archipelago round, and reach candidates across Finland, the EU and eligible international markets while your own team decides who to hire.
Employers in Southwest Finland interview their own applicants and hold the employment relationship themselves.
