For Central Ostrobothnia Employers
Central Ostrobothnia is a one-city region with a rural hinterland that has become a lithium province. Around 67,500 people live here and roughly 72 per cent of them are in Kokkola, where an industrial park of over 70 organisations sits beside a deepwater port. Advertising a vacancy on FastDriver.eu widens a small local field to drivers elsewhere in Finland, across Europe and in eligible international markets, with candidates applying to you and to nobody in between.
Your vacancy, your hire • Finnish, European and eligible international reach • Permit process guidance under a separate agreement
Eight municipalities, about 67,500 residents and one dominant city. Kokkola holds roughly 48,300 of them, while Halsua and Lestijärvi have fewer than a thousand each, so the recruitment field narrows sharply once you leave the coast.
Publish the vacancy with the category named, C-kortti or CE-kortti, state that ammattipätevyys and a kuljettajakortti are required, and add ADR where the load calls for it. Finnish listings are collected at www.fastdriver.eu/jobs/finland.
What FastDriver.eu does is publish your advert. It is not a recruitment agency, not a temporary employment agency and never the employer, and no driver is supplied to a Kokkola company under a hire arrangement.
One thing an employer outside the region rarely knows. Kokkola is the sea outlet for Kainuu's mining chemicals, which arrive from Sotkamo roughly 300 kilometres east on Vt28, and inland traffic from Jyväskylä uses Vt13, so driving jobs based here routinely involve long inter-regional legs rather than local rounds. The Finland employer page sets out the wider position.
Employers here advertise for timber haulage, combination work around the port and industrial park, bulk tipper work on the new concentrate chain, dangerous goods transport and yard operation.
Puutavara-auton kuljettaja vacancies with a CE-kortti run out of Kannus, Toholampi, Perho and the surrounding forest on Kt63 and Vt13. Name the mills served and the loading areas, and say whether crane operation is part of the role.
Yhdistelmäajoneuvonkuljettaja roles on a CE-kortti serve the industrial park at Ykspihlaja, the deepwater harbour and inland customers. Long legs east on Vt28 and inland on Vt13 are normal here, so state the route pattern and the home time.
The lithium chain running from the Syväjärvi quarry through the Päiväneva concentrator to Kokkola creates bulk tipper work on roads that carried little heavy traffic before. Say which leg the job covers and how many turns a shift is expected to make.
Zinc, cobalt, sulphuric acid and ammonium sulphate move in and out of the Ykspihlaja cluster, so an ADR-kortti carries more weight here than in most of Finland. List the exact classes your contracts require rather than asking for ADR in general.
Logistiikkatyöntekijä and yard driving roles support container, bulk and general cargo handling at the harbour. Container volume has been growing, so state the shift pattern, the equipment involved and whether a C-kortti is needed for road legs.
Describe the load, not just the vehicle. In a chemicals region a driver needs to know whether the job means tanker work, bulk tipping or general freight before deciding to apply.
The region runs from the coast at Kokkola inland along Vt13 through Kaustinen and Veteli to Perho, with Kannus and Toholampi to the north east. Vt8 carries the coastal traffic and Vt28 heads east towards Kainuu.
Recruiting outside Kokkola means recruiting from small communities: Kannus around 5,200 residents, Kaustinen about 4,100, Veteli near 2,900, Toholampi about 2,750, Perho roughly 2,550, and Lestijärvi at about 656, the smallest municipality in mainland Finland.
The working catchment crosses the regional boundary. Vacancies at Pietarsaari and Kruunupyy in neighbouring Ostrobothnia appear alongside Kokkola ones, and a driver living in Kokkola can reasonably take work in either, so treat the coastal belt as the real recruitment area.
Industrial pay sets the local benchmark. The park at Ykspihlaja runs to roughly 700 hectares with about 2,300 employees, and the lithium refinery has been recruiting process and laboratory staff in the same city, so a haulage advert competes with industrial terms.
Port and smelter operations run year-round, which means a large share of the driving work here has no seasonal lull. That is worth saying in an advert if you are offering steady employment rather than winter cover.
Driver work differs sharply between the capital region, the industrial coast, the eastern border regions and the far north. Open another region to see the hiring information that applies there.
Finnish drivers search in Finnish. An advert written only in English will miss most of the domestic market, and Swedish matters on the west coast and on the islands.
Kuorma-autonkuljettaja is the standard lorry title and linja-autonkuljettaja the bus one. Yhdistelmaajoneuvonkuljettaja covers combination vehicle work, and taysperavaununkuljettaja and puoliperavaununkuljettaja appear where the trailer type is the point.
Distribution work is written as jakelukuljettaja, or as the base title with the work attached, as in elintarvikejakeluun, kappaletavarajakeluun or yojakeluun. CE-kuljettaja is used as a job title in its own right.
Write the licence as C-kortti, CE-kortti or D-kortti. The formal C-luokka form is correct but adverts do not use it, and Finnish employers usually put the category in the headline in brackets rather than burying it in the body.
Ammattipatevyys is the professional competence, carried as code 95. Name it only where the role genuinely needs it.
One term catches employers out. Kuljettajakortti in a Finnish advert means the digital tachograph card, not the competence card, which is the ammattipatevyyskortti. The two are listed separately in real adverts and confusing them will mislead candidates.
Pay is routinely stated as AKT TES mukainen, meaning according to the collective agreement. Adverts also list ADR-kortti and trukkikortti where the work requires them, and tyoturvallisuuskortti is common across logistics roles.
A practical approach is a Finnish advert naming the category and the ammattipatevyys position, with an English version when you also want candidates from outside Finland.
Kokkola is officially bilingual with a Finnish majority and about 11.7 per cent Swedish speakers, while the other seven municipalities are monolingual Finnish. Practically, Finnish carries the search volume and the working day, so the advert should be written in Finnish first, using kuorma-autonkuljettaja, yhdistelmäajoneuvonkuljettaja, C-kortti, CE-kortti, ammattipätevyys and kuljettajakortti.
A Swedish version is a reach extension rather than a requirement, and it is aimed at the coastal neighbours: Kruunupyy and Pietarsaari, where Swedish is the majority language, sit inside the practical commuting area. If you add one, use the Finland-Swedish forms, lastbilsförare or chaufför, körkort rather than kort in the category names, yrkeskompetens for the competence and förarkort for the tachograph card. A driver with some Swedish is more useful here than in most of Finland, but a driver without it is not excluded.
FastDriver.eu operates as a European driver job portal and allows candidates elsewhere in Europe and in eligible international markets to find and apply for suitable Finnish vacancies.
The Finnish Immigration Service, Migri, now decides these applications on its own. The separate labour market decision that the employment office used to issue no longer exists. The driver applies, and the employer then supplements the application with the terms of employment through Enter Finland for Employers.
Two figures shape the offer you can make. The gross salary must reach the published monthly minimum for an employed person, currently 1,600 euros, and supplements such as evening and night work do not count towards it. Driver pay is often built from a base plus supplements, so check the base alone clears the threshold before you advertise.
Availability consideration applies here. Before applying for a driver from outside the EU or EEA, the employer posts the job on Job Market Finland for two weeks on the same terms that the application will carry. The regional work permit guidelines are reviewed twice a year, so check the current position for this region before you plan a timeline.
Employers here may receive applications from drivers based in Finland, elsewhere in the EU and EEA, Switzerland, the wider European region, Asia, Africa, Gulf countries, North America, Latin America and other eligible international markets.
EU, EEA and Swiss citizens may work in Finland without a permit, though a right of residence registration applies beyond three months. Nordic citizens register with the Digital and Population Data Services Agency instead. Licence validity and professional competence requirements still apply to all of them.
Where a Finnish goods operator employs a driver who is a third country national, a driver attestation from Traficom, the kuljettajatodistus, is also required. The operator gives the original to the driver to carry, keeps certified copies and returns it when the employment ends.
A candidate's ability to work here depends on nationality, residence status, professional qualifications, driving licence validity and the requirements of the individual position. Nationality alone never settles it. Drivers can check their own position through our driving licence eligibility guidance.
FastDriver.eu can provide process guidance and document coordination when a candidate needs support. It does not make government decisions and cannot promise an approval.
Name the licence category in the advert. It is the first thing a Finnish driver looks for, and it belongs in the headline.
Freight work uses C and CE, with C1 and C1E for lighter rigid vehicles. Passenger transport uses D and D1. Van and courier roles sit in category B.
Age limits matter when you are planning a pipeline. C and CE open at twenty one, or at eighteen where the driver holds the full professional competence. D opens at twenty four, reduced to twenty three, twenty one or eighteen depending on the qualification held.
Professional drivers in the C and D categories need ammattipatevyys, shown as code 95 on the licence. The initial qualification runs two hundred and eighty hours, or one hundred and forty on the accelerated route by age band, and periodic training runs thirty five hours every five years.
One point widens your field considerably. A driver who already holds competence in one branch can add the other with a thirty five or seventy hour course rather than repeating the initial qualification. That is the route to move an experienced lorry driver into bus work, or the reverse, though it does not by itself grant the licence category.
Foreign licences need care. An EU or EEA licence is valid in Finland while it remains valid. A licence from a contracting state can be exchanged, but a lorry or bus category always requires the full Finnish driving examination, theory and practical. Licences from other recognised states require an examination for every category.
A professional competence obtained outside the EU or EEA is not recognised in Finland. An experienced driver arriving from outside Europe will need the Finnish qualification, or one issued by another EU or EEA state, before they can do the work. Budget realistic time for that rather than discovering it after an offer.
A driver card for the digital tachograph is required on in scope work, and ADR training where the load needs it. A medical certificate applies to the heavy categories and renews more often with age. Say which of these the role actually needs, and remember that verifying the original documents remains the employer's responsibility.

Employers in Central Ostrobothnia can use FastDriver.eu to find drivers, advertise genuine vacancies and receive applications through a specialised European driver job portal.
The employer starts by submitting company details, work location, driver category, required licence, number of vacancies, experience level, working schedule, salary information and proposed start date.
The vacancy can then be prepared and promoted to relevant drivers through the platform, alongside the current driver vacancies already open.
Candidates apply for suitable positions. The employer reviews their information, conducts interviews and makes the final hiring decision.
FastDriver.eu does not become the employer. It does not replace the company's legal responsibility for candidate verification, employment contracts, remuneration or working conditions.
Employers that can consider international drivers should clearly state whether work authorisation guidance, visa process support, accommodation or relocation assistance is available.
This information must reflect the employer's actual offer. It must not be added only for search visibility.
Tell us how many drivers you need, the depot or town they work from, the licence category, experience, routes, language requirements and proposed employment conditions.
Our team reviews your company details and checks that the vacancy contains what a Finnish driver needs in order to apply with confidence, including the category, the ammattipatevyys position and the shift.
The vacancy is prepared, published and promoted according to the selected employer option.
Drivers apply through the platform. The employer reviews applications, communicates with suitable candidates and arranges interviews.
The employer makes the final hiring decision, verifies the candidate and signs the employment contract directly with the selected driver.
When separately agreed, FastDriver.eu may provide immigration process guidance, document coordination and relocation preparation for eligible international candidates.
Complete and accurate information helps drivers understand the opportunity and allows the platform team to publish the vacancy correctly.
Do not request unrelated information.
FastDriver.eu provides the digital platform and any separately agreed support services.
The employer is responsible for confirming the vacancy, independently verifying each selected candidate, checking driving licences and the ammattipatevyys position, and meeting all Finnish employment obligations.
FastDriver.eu does not issue government approvals.
FastDriver.eu cannot guarantee applications, candidate availability, candidate suitability, interview attendance, hiring, work authorisation approval, visa approval, licence recognition, processing time or continued employment.
All vacancies must be genuine, current, lawful and accurate.
Employers must not request unlawful recruitment or application payments from candidates.
Not as a rule. Kokkola is officially bilingual with a Finnish majority and about 11.7 per cent Swedish speakers, and Finnish is the working language of local haulage. Swedish appears in municipal services, signage, and dealings with Kruunupyy and Pietarsaari across the boundary, where it is the majority language. Useful to have, rarely a condition of the job.
Small and highly concentrated. About 67,500 people live in the region, and roughly 72 per cent of them are in Kokkola, so once you advertise outside the city, you are recruiting from municipalities of a few hundred to a few thousand residents. A recent regional search showed only 15 transport and logistics positions, six of them posted in the previous week.
The industrial composition suggests strongly that it is. The Ykspihlaja cluster handles zinc, cobalt, sulphuric acid and ammonium sulphate among others, with over 70 organisations on roughly 700 hectares next to the port. That is an inference from what the park produces rather than from a specific job advert, so confirm the endorsements your own contracts require before funding training.
A haul that did not previously exist. Ore moves from the Syväjärvi quarry to the concentrator at Päiväneva, and concentrate onward to the refinery at Kokkola, on rural roads through the Kaustinen area. Employers looking for bulk tipper and concentrate drivers will be competing for a pool that never needed to be that size, so plan recruitment earlier than the contract start.
Because both draw on the same few tens of thousands of working-age peopl, thee industrial park employs around 2,300, Boliden Kokkola runs Europe’s second biggest zinc plant around the clock, and the lithium company has openly recruited about 50 process, laboratory and supervisory staff in Kokkola. Industrial shift rates set expectations that a driver advert has to answer directly.
Three harbours, described by the port as Finland’s third largest general port, with the deepwater section reaching 14 metres and accounting for about 70 per cent of throughput. Bulk, metals and chemicals dominate, and container traffic is the declared growth line: volume grew about 30 per cent in a year, the port intends to triple it, and a refurbished crane allows two container vessels a week.
Because Kainuu is landlocked and Kokkola is its outlet. Terrafame’s nickel and cobalt products and its incoming reagents are handled at the port, roughly 300 kilometres from Sotkamo on Vt28. For a driver,, that means a long, regular inter-regional leg rather than local wor;d for an employe,r it means competing for drivers used to that pattern.
This page names no confirmed provider. Keski-Pohjanmaan ammattiopisto is theregion’ss vocational college, but its driver training could not be verified in research, so check with it directly before planning around it. In the meantime,e workable routesincludee hiring drivers who already hold the licence and ammattipätevyys, using capacity in neighbouring regions, or recruiting into yard roles and adding qualifications later.
Rarely. Kokkola is the maritime outlet for Kainuu’s mining chemicals and part of the outlet for inland Finland on Vt13 towards Jyväskylä, so long legs are the pattern rather than the exception. Roster design, rest planning and vehicle utilisation should assume inter-regional running, and the advert should say so plainly so that candidates are not surprised.
No land border. Central Ostrobothnia has no national frontier, so the international element of the work is maritime and arrives through the port rather than over a crossing point. For hiring, that means cross-border competition comes from other Finnish regions and industrial employers on your doorstep, not operators on the other side of a frontier.
A driver job portal and nothing more than that. You publish a real vacancy; drivers in Kokkola and its hinterland, elsewhere in Finland, in Europe and in eligible international markets can see and apply to it, and the applications reach you unfiltered. In a market with so few live listings, being continuously visible matters more than running short campaigns.
It is not. FastDriver.eu does not recruit on your behalf, does not act as a temporary employment agency, employs no drivers and supplies no labour under hire. The employer remains the employer throughout, which also means the employment terms, working time records, and collective agreement obligations stay with the company that publishes the vacancy.
Legally operating hauliers, timber transport firms, chemical and bulk carriers, port and terminal operators, construction and earthmoving companies, retail distribution fleets and licensed passenger transport operators. The advert has to describe a real job. Pay, usually quoted as AKT TES mukainen, the base location and the load type should all match the eventual contract.
Two different documents that are easy to confuse. Ammattipätevyys is professional driver competence (code 95 on the licence), obtained through 280 hours or an accelerated 140, then kept current with 35 hours of periodic training every five years. Kuljettajakortti, as used in adverts, is the digital tachograph driver card. The competence card itself is the ammattipätevyyskortti.
Yes, subject to the permit route. Lorry and special vehicle drivers are exempt from availability consideration only in Pirkanmaa and Kanta-Häme, so an employer in this region should plan a two-week Job Market Finland posting on the same terms before applying, and check the guideline in force. Gross pay for the permit must reach 1,600 euros a month, and evening or night supplements do not count towards it.
No, and it does not offer to. Applications, candidate availability and suitability, interview attendance, hiring, permit or visa approval, licence recognition, processing time and how long a driver stays are all outside its control. Where authorisation is needed, process guidance and document coordination are available under a separate agreement, with Migri and Traficom taking the decisions.
Advertise a driver vacancy for the Kokkola industrial park, the harbour, the inland timber municipalities or the new concentrate corridor, and reach candidates locally, elsewhere in Finland, in Europe and in eligible international markets.
Companies in this region choose, contract and employ their drivers themselves.
