Freight roles use C and C+E, with C1 and C1E for lighter rigid vehicles. Passenger transport uses D and D1, with DE and D1E where a trailer is drawn. Delivery work sits in category B.
Professional drivers in the C and D categories need the professional qualification, shown as code 95 on the licence or on a driver qualification card, obtained through basic qualification and maintained by periodic training every five years.
A digital tachograph driver card is required for in scope work and ADR training for dangerous goods. Alpine and tunnel route experience is worth asking about directly, since it does not appear on any certificate.
Where a third country national drives for a Slovenian operator on international journeys within the Union, a driver attestation may also be needed. For runs south into Bosnia and Herzegovina or Serbia, check what the route itself requires.
