Most Bulgarian drivers search in Cyrillic. An advert written only in English will miss a large part of the domestic market.
The core freight terms are шофьор на камион for truck driver, шофьор категория С and шофьор категория С+Е for the licence based searches, and водач на МПС in more formal or regulatory contexts.
International work is searched as международен шофьор and, still very commonly, шофьор на тир, a term that carries real weight with experienced long distance drivers.
Passenger roles use шофьор на автобус, while delivery and courier work is searched as шофьор на бус, доставчик and куриер.
Specialist searches include ADR and шофьор на цистерна for tanker work, both used by drivers who already hold the qualification and are looking specifically for that type of job.
A practical approach is a Bulgarian title with the licence category stated plainly, and an English version of the same vacancy when you also want to reach candidates outside the country.

Bulgarian employers may receive applications from drivers based in Bulgaria, other EU and EEA countries, Switzerland, the wider European region, Asia, Africa, Gulf countries, North America, Latin America, the Caribbean and other eligible international markets.
EU, EEA and Swiss citizens may enter into employment with Bulgarian employers freely, without a permit from the Employment Agency. Registration and valid licence and qualification documents still apply.
For third country nationals the employer starts the procedure. Labour market access is sought before the Employment Agency, the Ministry of Interior issues the permit, and a long stay type D visa and residence document follow.
Two points catch employers out. A limit applies to the share of a company's workforce that may be third country nationals, with a higher limit for small and medium enterprises, and the driver may only begin work once the residence document has been issued. Name the licence category in the advert. It is the first thing a Bulgarian driver looks for.
Freight work uses categories C and C+E, with C1 and C1E for lighter rigid vehicles. Passenger transport uses D and D1, and DE or D1E where a trailer is drawn. Van and courier roles sit in category B.
Professional drivers need the driver qualification, evidenced by code 95 on the licence or by a driver qualification card. Initial qualification is followed by thirty five hours of periodic training every five years. The Executive Agency Automobile Administration oversees the system.
A digital tachograph driver card is required for in scope work, and ADR training is required for dangerous goods. For international haulage outside the European Union, check the driver's documentation for the countries on the route.
Where a third country national will drive for a Bulgarian operator on international journeys within the Union, a driver attestation may also be needed.
Experience expectations are set by operators, not by law. International rotations generally call for previous long distance work and confidence at border crossings, while domestic distribution fleets often take on newly qualified drivers.
